I have not watched when they see us. Made a commitment to avoid it after hearing so much about it, and I have been able to keep to it thus far. I’m actually afraid of how it might make me feel.

Give it a go, Flo. I reached peak rate about episode 2 to 3 but other emotions rushed in as the show progressed. Make sure to watch the post show special as well with Oprah, Ava and the cast. As infuriating as it is, it is worth watching. It is powerfully told, at least one of the roles is really incredibly acted and just gut wrenching. Another reminder that every step of the criminal justice system needs radical reform if blacks in America are ever going to be free. And fuck that thieving molesting soon-to-be-impeached sack of shit you call your president

I dunno. Watching that and the Serial podcast kinda made me think it’s all a little hopeless, at least for the time being. It’ll take generations to clean up.

I still haven’t finished that Serial podcast. For some reason I found that exceptionally hard to stomach. Just makes me think of that woman given jail time for slamming a door in a court house earlier this month. It’s master mentality

Mr Robot has gotten pretty wild in season 4. The China topic was played out piss poorly as usual in American productions

But Vera is easily the best character in the entire show, can't wrap my head around how the guy playing him seems to range from pretty shoddy to positively incredible within a minute 😆

He might just be. I was disappointed when we learnt that he was back because I didn't really find him interesting and I didn't see what he could offer to the current storyline, but the latest episode was great.

Nah no way his sub plot and especially how it unravelled in the middle of the first season was basically the show's peak. The whole setup of the episode yesterday was again a bit rough on the edges but you have to applaud the attempt at least, that scene of Elliott by the window looked like one of you non thespian philistines probably imagines what a theatre play looks like but the acting by Vera and Malek and obviously the conclusion itself made it one of the best episodes of the show.

Waiting for the episodes to build up before I watch season 4, I don't remember Vera at all though.

Watching The Man in High Castle instead. Season 4 has been good but need it to start moving along soon as it feels like it's spinning it's wheels at the moment.

@[deleted] As I said, I'm happy to admit that my disappointment was without reason as he's been a great addition. I think I liked season 3 better than 1, the only thing I'm sure of is that 2 was by far the worst.

Nah that wasn't me but I'm trashing you right now for watching The Man in the high Castle 😆 I genuinely thought the show was taking the piss at some point in season 1 because the dialogue was so bad and I thought it was on purpose for some reason.

I wasn't calling you specifically words, it was a more general insult to everyone (although I was thinking specifically of ofty) because for theatre going snobs everyone's a philistine. Also you have the wrong explanation of the word, it means pretty much the opposite - a peasant who doesn't know how to appreciate anything of artistic value.

I mean I only talked it down because I watched it and thought it was shit, but all good …

I'm watching WATCHMEN now which is similar in a way, concept fiction that's pretty clever no doubt, but it's obviously going to have loads of "amazing twists" etc etc. So much of it is so boring it almost has me wondering if I even like television. But I did watch and really like FLEABAG recently, so must just be the genre and the writing. Science fiction works better as pulp, anthology or short story than it does as a lengthy serial.

It gets better to be fair, but yeah it's a show that's largely held up by the concept, visuals and a couple of star performers.

Fleabag looks shit. Couldn't even finish the first episode

Almost through the second season of Dark. Mildly interesting but jesus christ one of the most convoluted plots I've ever seen. Also sidenote but it's absurd how I have an easier time understanding anglophone TV than my own native German. You'd think a show with this much hype (at least domestically) Netflix would bother to make sure the mixing is sound but I regularly have to rewind key scenes because the actors either mumble their words or the background music is too loud.
