Anyone watching Barry? Apparently it's getting crazy reviews but no idea if it's worth watching a show about some hitman who goes to Hollywood to kill someone but and ends up becoming an actor. Dunno how something like that would work.

It's an excellent show. I seem to remember some other people on here watching it as well (Qwiss?). It's great at combining drama and comedy, I'd give it a chance as the synopsis alone makes it sound (even) more ridiculous than it is.

Barry is great. Top tier of hbo comedy shows. Hate waiting for new seasons for a year though.

Yeah it sounds absurd which got me wondering if there is something to it. Don't know how reliable rotten tomatoes or whatever the fuck that it's called it but apparently it's got like 99% and 100% ratings which seems unbelievable. Thought I'd see if anyone's seen it before even thinking about giving it a watch.

Not that it matters in this case, but just want to point out that a Rotten Tomatoes score isn't an average or something, but the percentage of reviewers that have rated something 6/10 or higher. Basically it shows the percentage of favourable reviews, but in theory something could have a 100 % score and a 6/10 average.

I find Rotten Tomatoes a pretty accurate barometer for shows.

Barry is pretty great for what it's worth. Commendably short episodes and seasons too. Give it a watch! NoHo Hank is one of the funniest characters on tv.

i watched all of the first season. it's ok, but i'm surprised at how much praise it's getting. i didn't feel a big urge to get into the 2nd season

succession on the other hand i've found far more compelling/addictive as a dark comedy

WATCHMEN TV series second ep brought it fairly well. Didn't feel too fussed about it at first, but now I'm intrigued.

Been looking forward to that one, after The Leftovers I'd watch whatever he made next. I read some reviews and what I noticed is that the episode-by-episode reviews are more negative than the season reviews (/the reviews for all the episodes that's been released by critics) so I've decided to wait and binge istead.

Ah I see. Thanks for that. Oh and thanks everyone for the opinions on it. Will give it a go at some point once I've finished a number of other shows I've fallen behind on over the last few years.

Was the Leftovers that good? I watched a bit of the first season in 2014 or so and ended up giving up.

I was noncommital after the first episode, but after two, I want to see the third. Shaping up to be quite clever and surprising, and a bit kinkier and less glossy than other sfnal puzzle shows like WESTWORLD, which I found annoying.

I've heard the 3rd episode is where it really starts clicking and then the 7th or 8th it gets amazing.

Its genuinely brilliant. Probably the best show of the last few years.

Been catching up on Mindhunter (season 1 & 2). I really like it, but I couldn't really tell you why or what's so interesting about it.
