Started watching Veep after seeing it mentioned on here a few times. Only a few episodes in, but it's pretty good stuff. Doesn't hurt to have Elaine and Buster in there.

Thought to myself it's a blatant rip off of The Thick of It before realising it's made by the same guy.

Initially I thought The Magicians was an okay show, but now I've watched all four seasons and it's actually great. It's a ridiculous show with just the right amount of self-awareness. The latest episode [spoiler]had me tearing up at Q's death.[/spoiler]

Silly question maybe but is Vikings worth persisting with? I binged on it through to season 5.02 and have not watched since it caught up with it.

I'd say it's worth it because the series will end after season 5. But no, I don't think it's particularly good anymore.

I've nearly caught up with Veep now, the #notme episode being the latest I've watched 😆

Jonah is great but I have to say the show's got terrific characters all around. I have to say though, I can't help but think back on some of the moments (and failures) during May's tenure as PM and think that there's been more comic moments in real like.

e: watched the series finale, what a great way to wrap it up. As harrowing as it was funny.

Haha. I didn't mind Line of Duty season 1. Ended on a bit of a cliche.

Watched episode 1 of Catch-22. I'll have to go back and read the book, but it's really promising. Some amusing moments, mixed in with some understated emotive moments with the guys in the bombers, along with the random futility of war.

i havent read this thread in a really long time.

anyone watch billions? its probably my favorite tv show of the last few years. its not high brow or snooty, but my god i love it so much

In the middle of season 2. Its ok, rattles along nicely. Some of the writing would make even Benioff and Weiss blush though.

Yep, one of my favorites too based purely on entertainment and shameless melodrama. I thought season 4 started out a little lost but it's actually turned out to be pretty good.

Escape at Dannemora holds up beautifully on rewatch. Very well crafted mini series.

The Deadwood movie drops tomorrow. I have stayed away from all trailers and reviews. Hope it's great. Fear it could turn out a convoluted mess with the amount of characters that needs wrapping up.

Most reviews say that it's really good. Haven't even watched the show because of the knowledge that it didn't get a proper ending, but I'll definitely watch it now.

It is very good. I do think it would have been even better subtitled with Russian actors though. There are a group miners a few episodes in who all speak in Scottish accents. That kind of thing throws me off abit.

It's the best thing to come out in years probably. It's excellent. It has that rare Band of Brothers quality where it feels as much as an important time document as a good story. Can't think of a stronger tv cast than Harris, Skarsgård and Watson either.

Watched episode 1 of Good Omens. I read the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett about 25 years ago and so can't really remember it, but the episode was really entertaining.

An angel, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and a demon, Crowley (David Tennant) have been on Earth since Genesis and have grown to love all things Earthly - wine, music, clothes, food etc. All of a sudden Crowley has to begin the process of Armageddon. The son of Beelzebub is sent to Earth. Mix ups with Satanic nuns occur and plans go awry. It's great stuff. I can watch David Tennant in anything. Here he is channelling Bill Nighy for large chunks. Sheen is great too - completely different from his portrayals of Brian Clough and Tony Blair.

If you like it you should consider listening to David Tennant Does a Podcast where he interviews actor friends and others. His chat with Olivia Colman is wonderful.
