I was saying this years ago when TV critic friends of mine were admonishing everyone for continuing their long-held habits of piracy when "affordable streaming alternatives" were now available. I used to point out that the channelised distribution model was absolutely fucked, and that the administrative overhead of managing your subscriptions—let alone the cost—would be ridiculous over time.
Well, here we are. Thanks for endorsing the fuck-up, guys! Fucking wankers.
you'll probably end up with some configuration that allows you to spend $30-50 to get your favorite sports and movies from cable and streaming services.
This strikes me as incredibly unlikely.
If you want to watch PL/CL footie right now you need to spend £60/$80 unless you can negotiate a discount, never mind the rest.
The reality is that you need to either spend up to £100+ (unless you're a particularly savvy consumer) to watch everything you want to watch, sacrifice shows/movies/sports you want to watch or resort to piracy.
As mentioned above, they need to find a way to stop this spiraling. Amazon have combined it with other benefits like Prime Delivery and Netflix have teamed up with Sky, this is the sort of thing they need to move towards.
