Mostly down to his own movement. He moves really well in the final third, he has no clue how to move when we win the ball back deep in our own half. He didn't run the channels at all, for either basks over the top or on the ground. He is never going to succeed trying to keep hold of the ball with a Premiership defender on his heels. He lost both Terry and Cahill for our goal.

Don't think the video shows it differently. Most of those runs were in the second half on counter attacks and he was the fittest player on the pitch. He was restrained in the runs he made when we were in possession, more than he normally is. If anything the video shows some great defensive work by him on occasion.

I don't think he is more restrained. He really helped out our attack a lot at every opportunity, otherwise we would have a lack of bodies in a lot of those moves. I didn't mean to say he was bad at defending if that's where you are concerned about, just noting how good he was in our attacking moves.

Ofcourse he was involved and helped in attack, he is our box to box central midfielder. I meant he showed restraint in the runs he made into the box ahead of play. He has previously been guilty, especially at the beginning of last season in being unable to curb his eagerness to get into the box, even to the chagrin of Wenger, often being found ahead of play when the opposition broke. He is much smarter now.

He played with perfect balance between attack and defense. Of course he isn't going to just stand next to Coquelin on the half way line when we have the ball, and on counter attacks he just has more running power than all the other players combined. He defended well, and he picked his moments to go forward really well.

If you watched the match, you will know he started centrally.

If you clicked on the 2nd link for whoscored, and clicked on heatmaps for Ozil you might be confused. But then you click on Santi and now the picture is obvious.
