Just as the proposed crime is one of the worst that anyone could ever commit it's also one of the worst false accusations to level against anyone.
There was video evidence too of her going into the hotel with the other guy, I can't remember what it was supposed to prove or disprove though.

She didn't actually accuse him of rape, she apparently has no recollection of the night. The police decided to investigate themselves.

IIRC Evans point was that in the video she was pretty sober and therefore "willing" party. But this time round it seems like he found even more evidence to prove his case.
Read up a little to jog my memory. Evans is the guy who drove across town to the hotel, to have sex with a woman he had never met? In my world it is very fishy there already, but then again I don't know everyone and their behavior. Apparently the judge in the case also commented that CCTV footage showed the girl stumble into the other bloke, thus indicating that she was already then in no state to consent to sex, which must have been pretty obvious to Evans. Yeah, this doesn't sound like a man who is innocent to me.
