Rodgers is obviously a decent coach but I reckon everyone is in Premier League; you simply can't get away with being Gary Neville on that level. In terms of top coaches he comes up well short though. He said the occasional clever thing because the Liverpool press gave him every opportunity to spread his ego, but there were neither results nor cleverness to back up the self-perpetrating myth in the end. There was just a babbling fool who wanted to impart knowledge on others but was in possession of very little of it.
If you want an underrated manager look no further than Claudio Ranieri. He has done some outstanding work with many of the teams he has managed, many of which were in worse condition than they initially appeared when he took over because they had been run by sycophants or egomaniacs. For this he has been branded a constant loser, because he doesn't sell his own stock in public like Rodgers and Mourinho do. Rather than showing off he's been more concerned about the present and the job he's paid to do here and now.
