His head isn't 'fragile' but clearly through his own medical history there is a valid reason for him to be concerned about another blow at the exact same spot that he had his last injury because it would lead, presumably, to a very complicated and risky medical situation.
Why on earth should Cech considering retiring when the alternative would be to just wear a god damn helmet? Of course it would be OTT if all goalkeepers decided to do so with no history of injury but in exceptional situations I don't see why a footballer can't do as he liked as long as he does not gain an advantage on the pitch.
I bet you guys would have had Edgar Davids retire instead of wearing protective glasses. 😆
