You were saying the same thing to me about Chelsea a few weeks ago, like I said back then, it's not really as simple as that.

They lost 3 games in quick succession recently, those guys haven't really done much to make them look untouchable.

Yeah, and Chelsea were league champions.

There are plenty of reasons why City will finish ahead of us. Yours isn't one of them.

Suspect QS is right, unfortunately. Not as good as Aguero of course, but Bony has proven that he is well able to be successful in the PL, and with a run of games I'm sure he'll score quite a few. I'd say that Bony represents the same challenge for City as Walcott does for us; it takes a while for the rest of the team to adapt to playing with a number 9 who is very, very different from what they are used to. Disregarding that Bony is an excellent back up, Man City also has a squad that is better than ours IMO.

They've plenty of goals in their attack aside from Aguero. He's a miss but we'd need a couple more big injuries to really derail them.

It's not about derailing them, they're capable of dropping points with or without Aguero. Losing him just makes it more likely.

Allardyce is in talks with Sunderland, he'd be a superb s signing. I reckon he'd keep them up.

Yep.

If it takes Bony a run of games to settle in I reckon City will be vulnerable to dropping points over the next few games.
Unfortunately one of those games is v United.

This pooh-poohing of Aguero being injured, potentially seriously, freaks me out a bit. We'd consider it an unbelievable boost if we signed him, losing him is a big blow for City make no mistake. Probably the best striker in the league and just hitting top form.

I suppose for consistency sake it has to be pooh poohed, given how vigourously it's been argued that City's squad (for example) are far stronger than ours and much better equipped to deal with injury to their best player.

There's no inconsistency that I can see.

City's squad sans Agüero is still stronger than ours sans Sánchez.

The difference is that yesterday we argued about injuries to big players in the abstract, and today Agüero's actually done his hamstring. The tree of possibility has been pruned, and all odds have shifted slightly away from City.

As we know over the course of the season it's rather likely the misfortunes will be more evenly balanced.

It'll be interesting to see if City sans Aguero do deliver the results to prove that they're a strong outfit, even without their top goalscorer.
That's what they'd need to show if I'm to be convinced that they'll suffer less the loss of Aguero than we would Sanchez.

City went on that 5 game run at the start of the season and Aguero didn't start 2 of those and he only scored once, yet they still looked superb. He's obviously a miss but Bony is a good striker capable of 15-20 goals in a season. The players behind him are the real worry though. Silva, DeBrunye, Sterling, Yaya, etc After that they have the likes of Nssri and Navas on the bench as back up.
