Eduardo had proper link play for what it's worth. He didn't play with his back towards goal but he was technically exquisite and knew how to combine with his teammates. He's really underrated in this aspect. He was closer to a great #10 than van Persie was.

True. Eduardo's quality of pass surprised me, more than a few times, as you expect out and out number 9s to be greedy.
As for van persie, despite being a highly technical player, he was incredibly ineffectual in the number 10 role because he often took up wrong position and, when he got it, never released the ball at the right time. Players like Ramsey and Theo making runs into the box would be wasting their time when he had the ball. Similarly nasri was rubbish there as he played for himself with brainless runs and dribbles into culs-de-sac or pot-shots instead of passing. Sure he scored the occasional screamer but there's no denying it is a low-percentage play. Even Messi passes when he sees someone else in a better position.

I changed my mind, I thought Eduardo was forgotten - turns out he's the most overrated player we've had.

Poor Diaby, has his career ruined by injury, released by the club, and now his thread gets hijacked by Eduardo. You've really gotta feel for the guy.

Apparently he's going to Dallas FC. Strongly rumoured anyway.

Really hope to see him play uninterrupted someday, somehow and show a few people what he could've been in the top flight.

Then people will say MLS is a shit league.

I'd be very happy for Diaby just to be able to play. Which league is irrelevant really.

Then people would be right.

Perhaps, Diaby's body can deal with the lower tempo and intensity of that league? If so, I'd be very happy for him.

Not saying they would be wrong, but rather Diaby will still not be able to fulfill his potential.

Well, that's never going to happen now, he's 29. Just want to see him turn out a couple of good years.

I doubt Diaby will ever step on the pitch again. He's been out for over a year without any obvious injury at this stage. He only played 30 minutes of reserve football this season and got injured again. He seems done physically. More done than Marc Overmars was when he was forced to retire at 30. This is Owen Hargreaves territory.
