The money either goes into transfer fees or player salaries. Or owners' pockets :-)
This. Don't really get the line of thinking of "x million is too much for him", it's not like we had a specified budget that we'd blow through every summer regardless of who we're getting. Fuck Liverpool though, even if Suárez is the better player Higuain is the one that got away.
And it's all because of the unholy triumvirate of Kroenke Wenger and Gazidis. At every other club someone has to be held accountable if it seems like the possible maximum was not achieved due to negligence, for my hometown club the DoF is scouting and buying players like mad because a) he doesn't want to be seen doing nothing because he's afraid to lose his job and b) he hopes to unearth the next big thing which might earn him a deal at a bigger club.
Us though, we're playing the game in discovery mode, like we've finished it ages ago. No one at the club has to fear for their jobs except for a couple pawns which are sacrificed when public pressure is heaped on the higher ups (couple of academy coaches, whoever was Forsythe's predecessor) and nobody is interested in reaching the next level because Wenger is half retired in his mind already and has been at the club way too long, Gazidis is utterly useless and might as well be a ventriloquist's item and Kroenke is a Republican cunt who owns and treats his clubs like others do fucking postal stamps.
We already pay top shelf wages to those three which has as a reinforcing effect on their bond and the supposed supervisors are a bunch of dinosaurs (genuinely don't know which of them is even still alive) and a 30-something bloke who eats McDonald's and reads Harry Potter. Wenger absolutely has to go, today rather than tomorrow, but I fear the real problems aren't coming until what gutless yes-man will be appointed by Kroenke afterwards.
rant over.
