But it's not meaningless to the clubs who'd have to replace Higuain and Aubameyang with other players. It's a nuisance. No one's getting anything done until the tournament is over when it comes to the big names.

It looks like we've decided to get some other transfers done early though by securing Granit (if rumours are to be believed). I just hope we don't stop after that. There's an urgent need for a rightback and a winger too, and I think we can sign both before the Euros.

Talking about the need for a right back, I'd move for Aurier if he's done at PSG. Haven't followed his situation since his stupid outburst, if you can call it that, but if he can be got for a decent amount then I'd forget about all that stuff and bring him in. He's a very good right back and has played a lot at left back and centrback too.

I'd definitely try to get Aurier too, very good player. Thing with his outburst is most actually agree with him that Blanc is a bitch 😆

Just what you look for in a utility player. Physically gifted, decent technically, can play multiple positions.

Probably wouldn't settle for being backup though, and I wouldn't want him at the expense of Bellerin.

In addition to that miss in the World Cup final, he bottled it in the Copa Americas and missed a penalty that would have seen Napoli qualify for the CL. In the space of 12 months. No player can be his best every single time - not even Messi - but Higuain hasnt exactly done himself proud in the past few years. It's also contradictory with your criticism of Wenger and this team for being mentally weak.

Yeah, criticism of Higuain's past performances is perfectly valid. Last season I wouldn't have wanted him here either.

Things change though. He's been world class this season from beginning to end, and I say that as someone who didn't think much of him before. He's going to switch clubs this summer, and it will probably be the most expensive transfer in Europe unless Pogba moves. That's how good he is. I get the scepticism that he might not have another season like this one, but you could say that about most players. Everything is a calculated risk.

Something that speaks to Higuain's advantage is that he has never struggled to score goals in his whole life. Other parts of his game were missing in the past, but it looks like they have fallen into place now. I used to criticise him for being unable to make space for himself up front. This season it has been the perhaps most impressive feature of his game.

I'm not against Higuain at all. A straight swap for Giroud would be fantastic - even last season - but to justify a £40m outlay you better be sure he can answer any valid criticisms against his name

It's all a question of when it stops being a valid criticism though. I get that people who haven't watched him much this season are sceptical, but he really is every bit as good as the hype advertises.

Yup. I really don't think Wenger can be criticized that much for not paying more than Napoli for him though. His development this late in his career is abnormal, Napoli probably paid that sum believing that they got the same quality he showed for Real Madrid, and at the age of 27 he found a whole new level.

How about when he won Real Madrid the title in 2007 with his last minute winner away at Mallarco? Does that not count in his favour and 'balance out' his bottling moments?

Who would you want instead...Zlatan? He is a known CL knock out 'bottler' too. "Doesn't do it against English clubs".

Cavani? Another bottler. Misses big chances for PSG at crucial moments in massive European games.

You have to look at the positive moments the player produced on the big stage as well, which is what makes them so highly rated. Not only their low moments.

Yeah, he did really well once in 2007 by scoring the winner against a team that finished 17th (Osasuna not Mallorca) - so what? I'm more inclined to get on board with Klaus' assessment of Higuain going up a level.

Coming from someone who's always critical of the mental state of this team, I just find it odd you don't even view it as a concern in this case. I don't want Ibrahamovic (mainly age) and Cavani (lost his way).
