Starting "CM" next season - Ramsey vs Cazorla?

Totally agree. How we've not signed a striker and a CM is beyond me. Come to think of it, we could use a top class CB as well.

Every team settles. Chelsea didn't batter everyone all season long. We started drawing games and that's where a top striker would have made a difference. Otherwise, the team is fine.

Everyone recognised we needed a GK and CF this summer. We've bought 1 and simply lack a striker. Yet, suddenly all these guys coming out the woodwork acting like we need major surgery.

You love to pretend that no one has ever raised concerns over defenders, midfielders and wingers at the club apart from the striker situation. I don't know whick rock you've lived under but it's not true.

Our team is worse than Chelsea's and City's even if we sign a striker. We'd probably edge it over United but that's it.

But Kos, Giroud and Ozil wasn't fit after Chelsea. Coq and Bellerin wasn't playing in the team yet. Szczesny was still our first choice at that time before the Southampton match.

We started our first 6 matches in terrible form. The brand of football played was terrible and we hardly ever looked like creating many chances. It was only when we sort out our midfield balance that we started playing better football.

What are you talking about? GK was a concern for a few people but not most once Ospina had shown he was capable. Far more talked about a midfielder and defender.

Yeah, that's simply not true. Goalkeeper was the lowest on the list of concerns

I think people are happy with Cech because it is Petr Cech and potentially a world class player but otherwise I don't think people were clamouring for a goalkeeper

I'm excited by Cech but if he doesn't recapture his old form then it's a bit of a sideways transfer for us

Sheeeeet, let's keep it simple.

We needed (and still need in some instances) a better GK, CB, CM (DM/DLP if you may), Winger and Striker.

Nah. We only really needed a DM to compete with Coq and replace Arty next season, and of course a striker. We did not particularly need anything else.

I'm with Mista and Qs here. This team is desperate, while we have 220k/week worth of mediocre strikers in Walcott/Welbeck sitting on the bench. This is why we need a new coach. We need someone who isn't invested in these players to really blow up the program

People are too hung up on wages around here IMO. Does anyone really think that Man City or Chelsea pay their back up strikers less than we do? The problem isn't what our back-ups are on, but rather that we don't have a proper first choice.

You miss the point, Rex. If we agree that we have less money available for wages than City, then it means we need to be wiser with our monies. That means that you don't put 220,000 pounds of mediocre strikers on the bench.
Instead, you put Giroud on the bench and put 220,000 pounds worth of Grade A striker in the starting line-up.

We've got the money to sign a top striker now and we've still not done it, so having even more money in the bank won't achieve anything. Also, I'm a strong believer in the buy first, sell later policy. Buy Sanchez, and dross like Podolski will be forced out eventually anyway. We can afford to have an inflated wage budget for a year or two.

Fucking hell, I'm at a point where I don't want Cazorla or Ramsey to play CM.

But my lord - Coquelin is for real. This might have been his best game to date.

We struggle when our midfield two get pressured hard.

Cazorla was woeful in the first half when he had liverpool midfielders sitting on him, but they stopped pressuring him second half and we looked so much better because of it. I recall Cazorla struggling for the same reason vs Spurs last year.

I don't think Ramsey is particularly great at coping with it either.
