Don't get me wrong, I think Giroud is a far better striker than both, but I don't think he remotely suits out style of play except for when he's coming off the bench against tired legs and bigger gaps and that's not enough of a reason to keep him around. Frankly, I don't want him starting games for us.

agreed. olly our best striker and is good at what he does, but what he does might not be the best fit for our team. hence why wenger has tried theo and alexis at point, and opted for welbeck during the run-in

Giroud is also easily the best plan B we have had under Wenger and that for me makes it a good enough reason to keep him. In England plan A won't always work, we have seen it for years, even when we had better forwards leading the line. We have cried for a different attacking style in a game when one plan is not producing the result and Giroud has shown he can do that job. He may sulk but he has signed a contract in January and it's a WC year. He will have to perform when he comes on our starts occasionally. We need to sign a better forward but we also should keep Giroud.

No I think when Giroud came on we were better and scored a goal directly as a result of him being on the pitch. Welbeck presses a bit but thats all he offers. I really don't think he's good enough to play as CF for Arsenal even as back up. Playing with a striker who doesn't score goals is just too big a handicap. When we were playing 3 forwards I didn't mind him as back up for the wide positions but if we've changed formation permanently then there is no suitable role for him.

We definitely benefitted from starting him over Giroud. It was clear as day his pace and pressing meant Chelsea had to drop deep and that left a lot of space between their defence and midfield.

That said, I'd rather keep Giroud as a plan B striker than Welbeck if our plan A striker is similar to Welbeck.

I preferred Welbeck as a left winger in the old system - I really rate him there actually. As the main guy up front he just doesn't have the goals in him. His pressing, movement and ball carrying is something we sorely miss when Giroud plays up there in my opinion.

The thing is with Giroud, I want him to stay and play off the bench behind a newly bought striker, but I don't really ever want him to start! I just don't like the way we play with him as the focus of our attack. That's obviously not realistic, especially in a World Cup year.

We'll have to see what happens on the new striker front first.

The argument could be made though that it's better to have like for like replacements for injured players so that it doesn't impact upon your style and I tend to go along with that line of argument. I think the team needs a semblance of continuity.

Giroud doesn't want to be plan B.

If you want the most out of Ozil / Sanchez then Welbeck is your guy.

If you want the most out of Ramsey / Ox / Nacho then Giroud may be your guy.

Sadly, I think we can't rely on Ozil / Sanchez to be here next year so it would be foolish to sell Giroud now.

Chambo's got great talent to be fair, so it's not surprising that the big clubs are swarming around him when his contract is running out. Especially not since it coincides with him finally putting the heavy injuries behind him. Another year or so of steady performances and he'll explode.

You don't have to convince me about Chamberlain. His agent just knows how to get his client paid is all I'm saying.

Don't agree, think Ox can potentially be twice as good as he is right now, especially with a more mature head and a run of games.

His natural ability on the ball is excellent.

I think once he learns to make better decisions both on and off the ball he'll improve considerably. His talent is not in doubt. There's definite room for improvement. He'll never be in the top tier of footballers but he can be pretty damned good if he sorts his head out.

Looks like both Newcastle and Watford have refused to meet our 15m valuation of Gibbs. Honestly, nobody in their sane mind will pay that much for such a poor footballer, just hope we can see the back of him by hook or crook.

They signed Cleverly for 8m, that sounds a bit more realistic. There's quite a few clubs in for him apparently which is probably why we're trying out luck.

Just give Gibbs away for free. Same with Debuchy and Jenkinson. It's worth it to get them off the wage bill.
