I remember Löw mentioning him but I thought it was earlier, feels like ages he's had his "breakthrough" in the first team. Don't believe Löw ever seriously considered it, a U-18 national with like 15 top flight appearances doesn't remotely warrant a standing like that, more likely Löw gave him a couple nice words to tie him down to the German NT in the future

I don't think he was going to take him but Low chattig about him is defiantly an indicator of the potential he had then compared to now.

Arsène Wenger says that the departure of Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini would leave Arsenal without “three big personalities”.
The triumvirate are set to end their Gunners careers this summer after a combined total of 641 appearances for the club.
“Mikel Arteta is the captain of the club and has been a great leader,” said Wenger. “Tomas Rosicky has been with us for 10 years and I think everybody loves him as well. Mathieu Flamini has been an extremely strong leader on the pitch and off the pitch. We lose three big personalities.
“All of these players will have to decide if they go on in their careers as a football player or a coach.
“I don’t know yet [if they will be involved against Aston Villa],” added Wenger.

Ozil must be crushed.

Said this in the other thread too, but we shouldn't lose Per next season now. Sell Gabriel instead and bring in a better defender.

Definitely. Per is still way better than Gabriel.

Rosicky gone. Wonder who takes the number 7 shirt.

Mahrez is taking it.
Perhaps Walcott will take it as a fresh start, the way Kobe Mamba Bryant took the 24. Or maybe Gallas will return as player-manager and wear the 7. Stranger things have happened.

Michael Owen thinks that is a fair price considering we paid £16m for Welbeck, and he is obviously better than Özil. 🙂

Did he say that or is that the sort of thing we'd believe he'd say? That I ask speaks volumes of his dimwitedness.

Completely unsubstantiated splash in today's Guardian about Guardiola wanting both Wilshere and Sanchez.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/16/football-transfer-rumours-jack-wilshere-and-alexis-sanchez-to-manchester-city

Now, I love both players to bits, I have very few reservations about Sanchez's contributions, and despite Wilshere's iffy form his sheer quality has been evident for the past couple of weeks, but for about £80m I reckon we should just about go for that.

If Wenger goes I'd say no- We are still to see the best of both of these guys and a new manager might bring that out.
If Wenger stays- I don't give a fuck, whatever.

Wenger's a millstone, but I still want to see us win the league, with or without him.

If adding 80m to the kitty through selling Wilshere and Sanchez meant we could sign two additional first team players (think Gotze and Morata, or Higuain and Mahrez) on top of Xhaka and a credible centre half, I'm not sure it'd be a bad idea.

Wouldn't mind selling Wilshere for 40M or something, but we're not going to be able to upgrade on Sanchez.

Yep, I guess the better equation would be sell Wilshere for a large fee if it brought in a top class centre forward. I think that would improve us on paper.

Those who I wouldn't mind selling for funds are:

Gabriel 10m+
Walcott 20m+
Welbeck 20m+
Chamberlain 20m+
Ramsey 25M+

Walcott is knackered I think we'll struggle to sell him unless he can prove himself at the Euros.

Wellbeck is injured for 9 months plus so unsellable

Ox is injured again so pretty much unsellable.

I know we sold verms injured but that was only a slight muscle injury not a joint problem.

He hasn't even made the provisional 26, which should really be a wake up call for him.

I suspect if he goes we'll be lucky to get more than £15m or so for him.
