I thought he was playing well when Arteta first joined but he got dropped (understandably) for a more creative force in there. I’d sell Xhaka over him every time. And if Xhaka is going then Torreira needs to stay for depth if nothing else.

So we got him for 8 milion and a reported 6,5 mil a year salary. To play for us for a year? 😆. I just don't get the logic behind our transfer moves. And I wonder, if we activate the option, will his salary go up even more?
I don't care if he moves on, even if he was decent under Arteta, I don't like him at all, and we could and should do much better.

That is weird. But given the amount of young CB we are linked with that make sense. Just a stop gap before Saliba is ready

EDIT: Actually it doesn't make sense. Plus the hefty agent fee to Kia, the transfer cost almost about 20m for just 1 year. The amount of agent and transfer fee will only make value if we take up his 2nd year option.

I think it's sensible to add the option. 13m or whatever for 1yr is better than 18m for two years for a player you don't want. I think we'd have kept him if it wasn't for COVID-19 though given that he's been our first choice defender this year.
