Bit odd that Wenger tinkers with the LB and RB personnel every summer.
I don't know much about Ghoulam, what's he going to bring?

I don't think we are signing him or any other FB this summer, for that exact thing you mention, Ev.

Ghoulam is 6 years younger than Monreal and a better prospect than Gibbs. It makes sense to bring him in. What doesn't make sense is selling your current starting leftback in order to do it.

What Klaus said. On the Nacho vs Gibbs debate - Monreal is a footballer, he's better than Gibbs by default.

What Qs said. 🙂

Luckily, we don't need you happy for the team to perform. If that were the case, then we would probably be in the Conference. 😉

Flamini's in the squad all's right with the world Rex. 🙂

If this is you happy I would hate to see you when you're miserable 😆

You're dreamy enough, you <3

Rumours of Flamini being wanted by Galatasaray, we have agreed to sell, possible medical in the next 48h.

Please, gods ...

😆

I want him gone regardless of whether or not he's replaced. There's about 9 or 10 midfield combinations I'd go with before I'd even want to see him on the pitch but if he stays Wenger would use him the moment Coq and Arteta go down.

Flamini's pending departure is reminder of how weak we are in defensive midfield. Arteta is not a credible option

No, you wouldn't like that...... 😆

I'd rather see Wilshere in defensive midfield than Flamini.

I'd rather we played with 10 men than see Flamini on the pitch.

I think Flamini is pretty irrelevant to be honest. Keep him in the stands for another year if he's good for squad morale; I don't really care. It's the prospect of signing a replacement that makes his departure exciting news to me. I think the odds just became a little lower considering we've gutted Diaby from the wage bill too this summer.

Yeah, I'd lay off Javi too. I think Schweinsteiger would have been a better signing from Bayern if we wanted to take a punt at someone with a dodgy injury record.

Yeah, but i dont actually want to believe that Alex in Berlin will actually get us Auba.

Szczesny allegedly just followed the official Roma account and a bunch of Roma players on Instagram. Not sure whether to post that here or in the houseboat thread.

Maybe he's just a fan of Totti as well?

Apparently Di Marzio has confirmed that Szcz is leaving for Roma. Don't have a link, so don't read too much into it.

Its all over the internet now. Sky Italia also reporting. Looks like its happening. There's even talk that it could be a 2 year loan. Perfect solution, if true. We have 2 better goalkeepers and a young hungry one as #3. Happy.

I hope, it's a loan for Szcz. Two year loan at a top tier club would be great for him and team balance.

This came right out of the blue.

Any loan move for Szczesny would be a good move imo.

Sensible move for all parties, if true.

I think he is a better long term bet than Ospina but sitting on the bench would, more than likely, hinder his development.
Hopefully he does a Courtois and returns a ready-made number 1.

To be fair though Javi tore his ACL and has taken him time to recover from that.  Don't think he has had too many injuries before that.  Think if we made a big enough offer there could be a chance, Pep seems to want him in defence and he has mentioned before he prefers to play CM.

Martinez' injury was much worse than "just" a torn ACL, he'd do well to return half the player he was. Used to be a big fan but I'd steer clear too.

Yeah, exactly. My personal observation is that it tend to take years for players to get back completely from such extensive injuries, if they get back at all. Most don't. It's like leg breaks. If you're over a certain age when it happens you're pretty much done. I can only think of Henrik Larsson who was past 25 when he broke his leg and came back better than he was before. And his body was a bit unique in the modern game.
