Yep, also sure that Arteta is staying (was confirmed by his agent, earlier in the season).

So, Szczesny, Diaby, Flamini, Podolski and Campbell are the ones we need to get rid of.

Pfft I'd be disappointed if both Arteta and Rosicky stay and Szcz left. Thats bad squad management IMO. Unless Woj is demanding out I suppose.

I think Cech for Szczesny is pretty excellent squad management personally, but it hinges on Cech actually signing of course. The keeper situation is a bit like the leftback: we can keep one but ultimately not both players, because none of them seem good enough to be the long-term solution.

Are you that passionate about fracking?

I raised concerns about two months ago whether Wenger would be ruthless enough to get rid of good players and replace them with better ones.

In the midfield two positions we absolutely need to get rid of Flamini and Diaby (although it pains me a little regarding Diaby). Those are two spots, and at least one of them needs to be filled by top class player. That means that keeping Rosicky is not necessarily a bad move I guess.

I don't count Campbell, Podolski, Jenkinson and Sanogo since they are already out. Loans or sales MUST be on the cards for those players. Personally, I'd only bother with a loan for Jenkinson and sell the rest.

Now, it gets trickier. We are already fine when it comes to numbers in the forward 4 positions. Cazorla, Walcott, Wilshere (since that is where he seems to play now), Chambo, Welbeck, Giroud, Alexis, Özil. 8 players for 4 positions, which is pretty much ideal if everyone is to have a fighting chance of meaningful playing time. We absolutely, definitively need a worldie added to that bunch, but then one of the players mentioned probably needs to be sold. Who is that going to be? Is Wenger prepared to sell one of those guys?

Bin Flamini and Arteta

Either release Diaby or cash in on Santi then go out buy a proper midfielder, and a star for the front line.

Much more balanced squad then

No, I meant frakking Flamini being comfortable and relaxed in Arsene's Arsenal.

Let's not forget we also have Podolski, Campbell, Sanogo on our books. That's quite some deadweight we can shed off if we are serious about bringing in new, quality players

Mourinhos getting rid of deadweight like De Bruyne and Schurlle whilst we're struggling to get rid of Rosicky, Diaby and Flamini. You can tell the difference in attitude.

I'm no fan of Wenger's stubborness or sense of loyalty, but I'm not one to envy Mourinho's attitude either. He brought in 'deadweight' like Schurlle and Salah in the first place, within a year he got rid of them to bring in deadweight like Cuadrado. No point being ruthless if you just end up making the same mistakes.

Except that Mourinho made a profit on the sale of many of those players, AND
in signing them & then selling overseas he denies his PL rivals from signing them for a good period of time unless they are willing to pay OTT

We also have the likes of Miyachi & Silva returning in the summer.

Difference is that those players are quite a bit better than the ones we're trying to shift. As such they can command decent fees and should be sold abroad. However if they are really deadweight (like ours) then do you think it matters if you sell them to local rivals. Doubt the likes of Flamini and Diaby will have us shaking in our boots if sold them domestically. If there's even anyone willing to take them in the first place.

Yeah getting rid of DeBrunye was really inspired. 😆

Of that 8 it should be Welbeck, he's clearly the least useful of that bunch. He's also young enough and English enough that we could easily recoup what we spent on him. Not a hope of Wenger selling him though, despite the fact he doesn't really trust him as a centre forward any more.

Lukaku, Ba, Luiz...

De Bruyne has been much better than Fabregas and Oscar this season.

Without a shadow of a doubt. De Bruyne is one of the best performing AMs in any top european league this season.
