Regardless of our personal preferences, we obviously bought him last year knowing full well what he offers stylistically. Now if Emery or the clubs non-existant technical directors no longer believe they need that sort of midfielder then fair enough, but that would point to a ridiculous recruitment strategy.

Which I think is a fitting description of our transfer policy over the past few years. Not referring to Torreira here but I am talking in general about our transfer/contract conduct in recent years.

We have 99 problems and Torreira ain't one. Have you ever seen Mustafi's face when we concede a goal and he wants to blame someone else for his errors. That mix of knowing he's responsible but absolute refusal to be accountable. Let's start there. That face. I never want to see it again

I agree with you as i would sell Torreira in a flash if it meant an upgrade like Ndombele.
Of course i would prefer they bought Xhaka/Mustafi but i accept it's impossible to sell shite even on ebay.

ndombele looks good, and in february he'd be dead on his feet too because most players hit the wall in their first season in the premier league and then people would be debating next summer if we should sell him too.

we should be replacing our shittiest players first, and that list is really long. if someone offers £80m for torreira, then sure, sell him, but lets sell xhaka, ozil and mustafi first

Fabinho didn't hit the wall.

All that stuff is a bit over played. Quality players are normally alright no matter what League they end up in: Sometimes managers, tactics or a million other things can have an impact of course. If Torreira had started poorly and finished well we would have instead heard the "it takes half a season to adapt to the (magnificent, incredible) Premier League" cliché.

I like Torreira and he's clearly a good player, but at least part of the reason he dropped off so badly was because he got a little bit found out by opponents and is a very poor athlete. He'll do better next season, but he's always going to be 5'5" and a level below even average Premier League footballers in terms of athleticism.

Ndombele would eat this League alive because he's of the highest quality and an oustanding athlete to boot. He plays 50 games a season no problem and he'd do that here just the same.

True. Basically Cazorla for example could hack it due to his ball control, passing range and ambidexterity.

Torreira looked impressive for parts of the first half of the season but once he ran out of gas he didn't seem to show those Cazorla-esque attributes to fall back on so he struggled, not that he's a bad footballer by any stretch.

Happy to invest more time in him but if there's an opportunity to sell him at decent profit and then buy a powerhouse, I say go for it.

Milan aren’t going to offer more than £35m, that may just allow us to replace Torreira with Fraser knowing our negotiation team. Ndombele isn’t going for anything less than £70m.
