This is the issue with Xhaka. In both directions.
It's easy to say that the Mkhi and Ozil contracts are the two big issues financially and Mustafi is the biggest issue morally; but Xhaka is the biggest influence on how the team performs in both directions. He slows us down badly in both directions. If we want to transition faster from D to offense, play with a little more power through midfield, this guy has to go.
An affordable replacement plan could be guys like Rabiot and Doucoure. Rotate them with Torreira and you have a solid, dynamic midfield that will never again go north of Leicester with the expectation of a drubbing.
