So under what circumstances is anyone prepared to allow Rambo to walk for free next summer?

For me I'd be prepared to keep him if he steps up in the new system AND we are well placed to regain top4 and/or our performances are such that we can seriously challenge for the Europa.

Basically there has to be a pay-off in terms of regaining CL football to make it easier to attract suitable replacements without needing to spend OTT. Otherwise if we are still struggling I'd sell anyone and everyone who was unable to adapt in Jan.

or do we twist and flog him off for whatever we can (if he hasn't already agreed to join outside the PL for free in the summer)?

TBH I'm not adverse to the idea of Gazidis taking him to Milan if we can get decent coin for him.

Really poor from our end. He should have been sold by the end of July if he didn't want to sign a new deal. As for now, I would drop him from the team completely.

Why would you drop him when we're stuck with him anyway? Better to just play him and try to get rid in January.

If we are doing well and he’s a part of that, we might as well keep him. I’d rather lose him for cents and be back in Champions League. If he’s giving us nothing, sell him for a fistful of dollars on Jan 1st.

We sell as long as we can get a decent price. Then again he might not be open to being sold when he can walk for free a few months later.

That's the concern and it also applies to Welbeck this season as well as Lichtsteiner being on a 1 year deal.
IIRC both Cech & Ospina have 1 more season?

I doubt Ramsey will leave England. Gut feeling is he will join Manchester United on a free in the summer.

Yup - whereas a PL club would need to make an offer in Jan if they want him and don't want to risk him agreeing a deal elsewhere for the summer.
Rambo can talk to non domestic clubs in Jan without the club's knowledge as he doesn't need approval to do so, whereas domestic clubs still need to go through the club in order to talk to him.
