Agreed.. limited player, but was useful for a time when we needed him to be. After the change in system, he tried to be Cruyff when he played a bit too much, but hope he gets some quality minutes at VCF

It's not, is it? We're in a bad spot because we've signed snd maintained guys like Coquelin and Gabriel for too long now when we should have gone for better players. Our decline is not a one-season thing; it's been a drop-off in quality all across the board for years. Even when they didn't play they were still bodies in the squad, just like Walcott and Welbeck are right now.
I think it's hard to say who's not good enough and how much is down to coaching issues. Mustafi was great in La Liga, so has Gabriel been after returning. Szczesny is the heir to Buffon now. Players used to almost exclusively regress after leaving Arsenal because we got the best out og them, but that's not true anymore.
I've seen very little of chesney or Gabriel since they left, but they look to be the same players they were for us.
We are reportedly getting €25 Mn for Coquelin. Decent value that. I liked his passion but we need more quality.
If the plan is to play Maitland Niles in midfield if required then I sure do hope we are after a left back.

€12.5m, which is £10m. You'd expect a bit more but who cares, you made profit last summer and you'll probably make more profit this window.

hes a bit part player for us on higher wages (that the average bit part la liga player)....maybe my opinion is just colored because we always get less for players than we probably should.
