Is it me or is everyone getting excited about an over the hill keeper because people like signings for the sake of signings?
There is no other real Arsenal transfer news so this why this one seems so 'exciting'.
If we actually do sign him how many pages will his opening thread be on 'Arsenal talk'. Maybe 4, 5 at max.
Nothing compared to when we even signed Welbeck last summer.
Hopefully we won't sign him though.
What difference does it make how 'excited' people get? People are stupid.
If we sign him and he improves the squad - great, the club have finally shown some initiative in strengthening a position that no one expected to see any activity in.
If we sign him and he flops, big deal. We've already got Ospina and Szczesny. It's not going to get any worse. And on the whole our defensive record has been better than in previous years so it's not like when we stuck with Almunia and Fabianski.
There is a chance that he's regressed in the past two seasons but I don't particularly agree that Cech has been poor since his injury in 2007. He's had a few top seasons since then and has been widely regarded by Chelsea fans as one of their best players since then. He's only just turned 33 and there's no reason why he can't keep going for another 3-4 years at the top level, if he's able to recapture his form.
