Chelsea’s Petr Cech has emerged as a target and there is the belief at the highest level at the Emirates Stadium that a deal could be struck for him. Cech, 32, has been displaced by Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge and he has said that he cannot contemplate another in-and-out season like the one he has had.

After 11 years of outstanding service for Chelsea – and because of the respect for him from the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich, and José Mourinho – he will be allowed to choose his next club, even if it remains difficult to imagine the Portuguese manager allowing that club to be Arsenal. Cech has one year to run on his contract but he would cost £10m.

10 Mill is more than worth it, Cech is as big a matchwinner as you could get in your defense.

Not that sure really. I've seen a drop in his level this season. Don't know if it's down to a lack of games or a permanent decline.

I'd prefer to go for Bernd Leno. Who looks to be the next potential world class young keeper.

Don't know about Leno, think he's still all to prove to be considered a world class talent.

I think it's important to remember that Cech was starting to look a bit wobbly last season, he's not as consistent as he used to be. Having said that, if it's a big game or a cup final, there are few better keepers in the world.

Either way, I think there's very little chance that Mourinho will sell him to a rival.

timo horn has gotten some decent pub this season. only 21, looks to be a rising star.

Don't think any of them are particularly good apart from Neuer; not on limited viewing anyway. Spain still seems to have the best goalkeepers by some distance. Italy not too far behind.

Other than De Gea, which other young keepers is impressive in Spain? Can't think of any actually.

Germany have better young keepers and even Italy too.

Ter Stegen is one of the better young keepers and I agree the Barca move was a mistake, could be top class for another side now. I really like Oblak when he was at Benfica and was abit surprised he struggled at Madrid, now he is back to his best.

id definitely put the german group above the spanish group.

de gea is obviously class. diego lopez is solid enough. then who? adrian? casillas is past it.

Let's start with De Gea, Lopez, Valdes. Germany only have one keeper who's better than either of those guys, and the margins are fine between him and De Gea.

Same with Italy - how are the likes of Ter-Stegen and Zieler any better than Sirigu and Marchetti? Buffon is still king. And they have guys like Scuffet and Perin coming through who look odds on to be top class in a few years.

The guy who has played 600 games for Barca in the last decade. Sure. Easily better than all of the Germans on that list above apart from Neuer. The only way naming him is controversial is because of the recent knee injury.

he hasnt been at that level in a few years now. i wouldnt take him over most of the german guys right now, moving forward.

No love for Kevin Trapp in that list mdgoonah? Think he and a few others in the Bundesliga are GK's to watch out for.
