Yes, Gunner. The whole argument about his stats being low doesn't hold water. He's a very young player with lots of promise. But if we are going to spend 40m pounds on a forward this summer, I'd rather go with the more proven Reus.

Listen I'd prefer Reus too but Sterling's right there among my top choices as a winger.

Personally think sterling would already be at around Ramsey's level in terms of his current performances, so would likely be an automatic starter. He'd also give us a few qualities that we're missing. Seems an intelligent player and a safe bet to become an instant success.

40m, 50m...figures don't really matter for us fans. but if sterling was our only summer signing it'd still be a great window. Ultimately the player usually gets his way in these situations so time for the English core to put in their best tippy tappy performance in years.

Sterling is being asked to share the bloody burden of this pathetic Liverpool side. In most of the games this season he is leading the line as a striker which he clearly isn't, or playing as a wing back.

Put him in our team and Ozil is going to have a field day picking him out. We could do with someone as good as him beating defenders 1v1 and delivering crosses in.

Sterling wouldn't, IMO, change the situation I feel we are in; if Alexis is out injured for a few months, then I think we will struggle for goals. Sterling is a really good player, and he has potential to become even better, but I'd much rather we went for the finished article like Reus here. If the policy of one top class player per summer remains and Sterling is the big addition, then I'd be quite underwhelmed.

Totally agreed. Sort out the rest of the squad and sign a Reus first, then if we have the cash left over sign Sterling. Liverpool will want way too much for him though. Hopefully we sign a player of such quality that we won't have to lament not signing Sterling when the window closes.

The Scouse media and journalists are having a field day with this one, pretty much destroying any hope of him staying. This isn't all coming from Sterling's camp either, the Liverpool owners are known to use these tactics when they want to get rid. If they sold otherwise the fans would be up in arms but now they want him gone.

If he's to be our only summer signing I can't guarantee that I'll be overjoyed.
In fact right now I think I'd be miffed.

I don't view the wide positions as being a major priority for us right now so I don't mind if we go for a bit of potential rather than the finished article. As far as homegrown talents go, Sterling is at the very pointy end.

Need to absolutely strengthen the spine of the team this summer too though.

i think Chelsea will go big for him. they need to Anglicise their squad sharpish. we can mess around by sticking in a 30m pound bid and annoying them, but our focus should squarely be on Griezmann or Reus. bid the bucks. bag the boy.
