Who is your Arsenal Player of the Season?

So, it is that time of the year when we need to start voting for player of the year. You have contributed nominations and I have created a final list of six.
This is a particularly exciting year because any of our list of six can claim to be our player of the year. Each man has at different points in this season carried us and stood head and shoulders above his peers. This has probably been our best crop of performers in the last 6 or 7 years, and it shows with our potential to perhaps finish 2nd and snag an FA Cup.
And for those who complain that voting is early, we are well into the season. Premier League player of the season voting has happened. If you don't have an idea of what you want 80% of the way into proceedings, you'll never know. :hat:

Honestly it's very close. Sanchez is a front runner due to his first half of the season, but he's been disappointing since then. Coquelin has only been here since the end of December, yet he's been a revelation since he's come into the side. Cazorla, and possibly even Giroud, also have their merits. Koscielny and Ozil aren't really in the running for me personally.

Very tough decision, but if I had to choose right now I'd probably go with Sanchez. The final vote would heavily depend upon the back end of the season though, we have plenty of big games coming up (Liverpool, United, Chelsea, FA cup) and big performances would affect the final vote.

On the basis of consistency over the whole season, I would go for Cazorla.

If Sanchez can pick up his form, and Giroud and Coquelin can maintain theirs till the end of the season, it will be pretty close, and the 2 who don't ultimately win can feel hard done by it.

Hmmm between Cazorla and Giroud for me at the moment. Alexis really fizzled out, so much so I'm not sure he even warrants a starting position at the moment.

Long way to go, at the moment I'd still say Alexis. He may have fizzled out a bit but he gets extra kudos for playing practically every game. If Giroud and Coquelin can maintain their good form they can overtake him though. Santi may be relatively consistent (not sure I agree, he's had some stinkers in some big games and he only started performing around November), but I don't think he's had enough games like City, they've been at a lower level generally.

So yeah, too early :p

Alexis for the first half of the season; it's a tie between Coquelin, Özil and Giroud since then.

Probably Santi for his consistency in good performances over the entire season.

Santi, and it's not even as close as some make it to be. Super player, underrated beyond belief.
Without him who knows where we'd have been.

Note: this isn't about "ideal Arsenal". I can certainly see how some would not even have him in our starting 11
When everything is ideal (Coq, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Giroud, Welbeck/Theo/Ox). But this year, he was a key figure for
us, and but for two or three poor games he was simply magnificent (despite being very unlucky with shots saved, etc.). Played
Am and CM deeply, two roles seemingly close but actually worlds apart, and always to the benefit of the team.

Always liked the little guy, but these last days I realized he has become my fav current player.

Voted Coquelin as he's freed the team (and players) of so many of its issues.

Could change by the end of the season, but with how much Sanchez is fading I don't think he'll be able to claim it due to the fall off.

I chose Sanchez because I think we would be below Spurs without his performances in the first half of the season. Cazorla, Coquelin, Giroud and Ozil are all taking this team forward now, but they are somewhat sharing the load. Without Sanchez there wouldn't be much for Cazorla&Co to salvage. Yeah, I exaggerate a bit, but you get the point.

It's close, Sanchez till around December, Cazorla from November to Jan and Giroud from Jan onwards. Who ever steps up now wins it.
