That does not mean that clever tactics and planning make poor players great, but it can and does often mean that they bring out the best of good (not necessarily genius) players.
I don't disagree with that, especially the last part but it's a highly overrated concept in football, IMHO. Lot's of geniuses with their tactical spiel. Mental masturbation more often than not. Lot's of LVG's about.
There are really only a few strategies on how to play football, but people dissect it into something much more. That something more is not the tactics, but the difference between personnel.
Outside of the top 5% clubs, there are 95% who make the rest of the football world who won't get anywhere copying the tactics and methods of the top 5%. Why? because their personnel is just not good enough. Doesn't matter if they copy Mourinho or Guardiola.
