I agree and i guarantee you, our scouting team has another "Gabriel" or "Koscielny" or "Giroud" or "Monreal" ready for this CM spot as well for £10m, if we're looking for a player to compete/rotate with Coq. In case we are looking to upgrade on Coq, then we'll use £30m+ to bring in another "Özil" or "Alexis". There is no way we will pay anywhere near £25m for Schneiderlin and its clear there are teams who would. Watch him end up at "Spurs" and us calling him average after 6 months there and laughing at the fact we even wanted him. "The Michu Effect".

The Michu Effect.. 😆

The Hipsters who were all over him probably have no idea where he's at now... A story we've seen soooo many times over the last couple of years.

For every Michu, you have another Carrick, Lampard, Ferdinand etc etc etc. Good players waiting to step up into a top club.

Schneiderlin has been very consistent and impressive for 3 seasons now. You don't get called up to France for nothing.

Modric used to play for a mid-table club in England and now he's one of the main men at Real Madrid.

Lampard, Rio, Modric etc. were always known to be big natural talents and the smaller clubs they grew up in or played for were always seen as stepping stones. Schneiderlin is just a very solid player who has worked himself up to be one of the stand outs in a smaller club and is now looking to cash in on it. I have nothing against him, i just dont think his price tag and stature actually match our needs/wishes as its simply not how we operate on the transfer market.

Klopp leaving dortmund apparently

Should definitely go for a double swoop of Hummels and Gundogan/Reus.

The first line of that quote makes it all sound so simple like they were all going to be a success.

The last line is the most intriguing- How we operate in the market? In the last 2 years we've brought 1 player for 30m plus and another for 40m plus. Beyond that we've thrice paid fees which are a little more or less than our transfer record till 2013 none of who are exactly the finished article and at this moment none of them are in the first eleven (Gabriel, Welbeck and Chambers). Given we are operating at a level where we are paying about 16m for Welbeck or Chambers then paying 20-25m for Schneiderlin isn't beyond how we operate in the market.

Lampard was far from a sure thing to become anything like a top player.

Exactly, we either pay big for a world class player or we pay £10-15m for a talented player, ready to make the step up. We do not pay £25m for someone who wouldnt even be a guaranteed starter.

I don't know what people imagine that what so called world class DM's do but they don't dribble past 3-4 players or make chances out of nothing. They are just consistently effective at shielding the back 4 year in year out. But by some of the posters here apparently a few months of good form means the likes of Cavani and Schneiderlin are not upgrades on Coquelin and Giroud. Laurent Blanc thought well to rest this established star after seeing his performances when he decided to rest Coquelin against minnows Brazil a few weeks ago and started Schneiderlin instead.

Hey everyone, G89 is saying Sakho is better than Koscielny.

What has the PSG coach to do with Coq?

Interesting you mention that particular game. Schneiderlin got his ass whooped and shown up for the average player he truly is.

Don't be daft. Koscielny's played a fair few games for France over the last 1-2 years.

And they don't play him because they're looking to the future and realise that Koscielny will be nearly 31 when the next major tournament happens.

Cristiano Ronaldo got his ass whooped in a games too. Doesn't mean he wouldn't walk into every team in Europe.

How many times are you gonna change the player, who gets his ass whooped? First Neymar, who didn't play against Germany, then Thiago Silva, who didn't play that game either!  😆

Now Ronaldo... Well, Ronaldo rarely, if ever, sticks out as the worst player in the pitch among good/great players. Schneiderlin did, he was absolutely woeful, you could tell he was a Saints player, while the other ones were from Real, Barca, Chelsea, PSG, etc.

The one thing I'll say about Morgan is that he plays in a midfield and set up where he gets a lot of protection. Wanayama, Ward-Prowse, Cork etc all do a lot of defensive work.

I hear what you are saying, but unless that 25m is going to restrict us from signing other players, he is the perfect buy for us to strengthen our midfield. As a top club many teams do this, buying top players to add depth. We have the financial resources now, I see no reason not to go for him unless a better one appears.

Wanyama does but he barely figured last season.

Ward-Prowse does probably less than Ramsey.

Cork is not at Southampton anymore.

Yeah you must be watching all the games with so much detail that you figured that one out. Like your regular viewing of Illaramendi concluded that he was better in all aspects of his game than Morgan.
