Would be an improvement of Per certainly.
I'd take him; fits the mould of what we should be looking for stylistically. However, he looks alot poorer without Hummels and it's apparent that he isn't much of an organiser which will be an important characteristic for whoever replaces Per in the future.
He also has a year left on his contract in the summer making him a classic wenger target. I have no idea who is out there as an organiser as it is a quality you need to see by being at a number of games watching the player throughout.
Dude is slow, has dodgy knees, and has missed significant parts of the last two seasons. Wrong defender from Dortmund to try to sign IMO.
Average player, no thanks.
Jeremy Wilson of Telegraph also reporting this. Also mentions Schneiderlin as midfield target.
i hope not. it's not rocket science, you will have less injury issues if you don't have injury prone players.
He had one big injury. Has played more or less as much as Hummels at Dortmund.
Subotic is a good fit for us but he has a lower ceiling than Hummels.
Hummels on the other hand has grown a lot in the aspects of his game that weren't that obvious a few years ago. He's pretty much the complete defender now. Bloke is a monster physically too. I would chuck half the transfer budget on him and the other half on a striker this summer.
Serbian defenders do well in the PL. Hummels and Kos/Gab wouldn't work just as Subotic and Per wouldn't work as a partnership.
He is an upgrade on Per, so i would take it.

he didn't learn how to play football in serbia, so how other serbia raised defenders get on is irrelevant. he lived in germany from age 5-10 and america from 10-18.

I think Hummels and Kos would work great. Both have the intelligence to play a more withdrawn role if they need to - just look at how Hummels won Germany the game against Holland in the world cup. Subotic and Per would be a terrible pairing though, because none of them can just decide to be quicker and more mobile.
Hummels is who I'd spend my money on in the summer. Centre backs like him that can lead a defence are hard to find. I think it'd take the team up another level.
Of course. Hummels is basically a dream signing.
We absolutely can't let him go to United.
He's been pretty poor this season, hasn't he?
edit - Subotic, I mean.
