Mourinho has regressed as a manager.

The Mourinho of even 5 years ago would have the league wrapped up by now and no way would have been knocked out by PSG.

I'm disappointed as he's a managerial legend but happy at the same time.

A weaker Mourinho gives us a better chance.

Yeah, I think 'disappointed' is a good summary of everyone's feelings regarding Mourinho's failings.

He was never as good as a lot of people insist he is.

He just doesn't have players as good as those that he used to have. That's the thing, so much is made of the manager, and, don't get me wrong, he's plenty important, but good players, especially in the spinal positions, is what decides football matches.

Pretty much, Ricky. Management becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy that way. Mourinho went to Porto when they had the country's greatest generation of players ever coming through. Then to Chelsea who were the richest club in the world. Then to Inter who thanks to the Calciopoli and Morratti's wallet had more or less every great player in Italy. Then to Real Madrid. They all wanted him because he's a top manager, but everyone wins titles with those clubs. Managing them is about prestige.

A more interesting question is if he could have done this to Atletico Madrid, like Diego Simeone has done. I don't think he could personally. He's never been that type of manager.

Much like Wenger was lucky to have the inside track on France's golden generation, and not everyone wins CL titles with the likes of Porto and Inter, Wenger hasn't won one- Oh I forgot he's sacrificed himself staying at a tiny club like Arsenal out of the goodness of his heart.

Mourinho is going to win the league again, anyway.

Like me you're not defending him, you're just stating the obvious.

I think he's a cunt, and I don't think he's the world's greatest manager, but no one can deny his aptitude for getting pole position, and he's pretty good at not fucking things up given a head start.

I'm not denying he's a cunt but plenty are denying he's a great manager belittling his achievements, while those same people laud Wenger as one of the top coaches in the world despite his lack of European pedigree.

Well, you ceaselessly slam Wenger despite the fact he's the greatest ever manager of your favourite football club in absolute terms. 😉

Logic.

But he's only ever won domestic honours, he's vastly unachieved in Europe when you consider some of the players he's had, and I believe thats because of his refusal to compromise his ideology, except once in 2006 when he inexplicably played a very pragmatic game and nearly won the damned thing!

He's still the greatest ever Arsenal manager in absolute terms. 😉

He's the John Howard of Arsenal managers, if you hang around long enough eventually you achieve by default,

😆 Greatest ever Arsenal manager. In absolute terms.

Sorry.

In relation to him being John Howard and achieving by default - that's not true 🙂
His title winning exploits are packed into the first half of his tenure.
The second half is pretty barren.
Hanging around has damaged his reputation to some degree (wrecked it for some).

Mourinho is an irritating cunt. That's all he is. Look at his every interview, look at his every move - it reeks of cuntiness. The way he has been going on about this campaign against Chelsea is just ridiculous. Yet the english media have their tongues up his ass and its embarrassing to see. They should be destroying him, like the spanish media did.

Mourinho is indeed the master of effective, cynical football.
Ironic that that it was cynicism, and some would say cowardice, that were Chelsea's undoing in the game agsinst PSG.
