Don't think anyone disagrees Giroud would ideally be upgraded. But Giroud's form since his foot injury is considerably better than anything Chamakh ever managed for us.

Also Chamakh was the biggest coward we've ever had, even if his hold up play was decent there's no way he battled it out with centre halves week in, week out like Giroud does.

in recent months, probably only Harry Kane has rivaled Giroud in England. he's stood up and been counted. i'm not sure if this is as good as it gets or if there is another gear he can select. i love that he has a solid understanding with Ozil and Ramsey, and is capable of creating for his midfielders as well.

his brain isnt spoken about as much as his brawn. he's turned into a very clever footballer. the thing is what we're seeing is most likely his peak.

In fairness, if Giroud could keep the level he has had since coming back from injury over a whole season - that would be an excellent season for any striker not named Messi or Ronaldo.

Thats not going to happen Rex Giroud gets a goal every two games or so thats pretty good, there are much more pressing needs.

Cavani would be my top priority. A world class striker is needed to win titles, and Giroud just isn't that.

Why would you want Cavani ? He will cost a lot-and I mean a lot, by this time next season he will be 29-going on 30. To all this add the fact that he is not that great. And Cavani misses way more chances then Giroud. And this season Giroud has more goals then him, in less games.

I love Giroud, and he is great right now(2 more goals today), but I agree we could do with a world class striker, it's been a while...but that striker is NOT Cavani.

Wouldnt swap him for anyone. That's it, he's bordering on WC as far as CFs go right now.

When physically at a good level, he has always tried to impose himself. He is obviously doing it better now but what is most impressive is his off the ball movement and his improvement with ball at feet.

The more he scores the more I like him, it he carries this form through to May I might love him by the end of the season.

I guess credit to Wenger too for believing in and sticking with Olly, and spotting that he had the ability to improve and lead the line as strongly as he has done since his return from injury.

Exactly and exactly.

I was thinking this earlier. I don't like Giroud, let's be honest, but you can't hate on a guy who scores regularly. Also, Wenger was right about him as well, even if he took fecking ages to deliver.

I said before though, that I think the injury done him good. It means that he's come in to the business end of the season completely fresh.

I'm sorry but if you want to see the definition of fickle then see some of the posts in this thread.

Giroud will never be world class.

He is on a good run but he had a similar run at the beginning of last season as well.

hes a better all around striker than cavani at this point. id only swap him for someone legitimately world class, and that group doesnt include the likes of higuain and benzema. those guys would cost a fortune, giroud is free
