We were talking about who gets on the ball more. Obviously total number of passes and getting on the ball are correlated (you can also get dispossessed, but I'm ignoring it).

Dont think i disagree with them. Although Ozil's a much more rounded footballer these days (helping out more in our build up play) but I'd say his game is still mostly about outstanding movements and making high quality precision passes in the final 3rd, Whilst Silva likes coming more to the ball and influence the way City play with short clever passes in congested areas. He's more of a conductor, similar to Santi but even better.

Dreamy, this is silly so I'll just stop. To 'get on the ball' is absolutely pointless and doesn't help your team if the subsequent pass is not an accurate one. To me, that is obvious, and the rest is just fluff.

And for the record, as you want it, Silva had 41 passes in total to Ozil's 38.

....Except I never said 'getting on the ball' more often is better. We were talking about differing playing styles - I never claimed Silva's is more effective or better for his team.

I don't really think Silva is much more of a "conductor" than Ozil. They play in very similar areas IMO. Silva was better last season and the season before that but Ozil has quite obviously been miles better than him this season. Thats because not only has Ozil found a consistently high level but also because Silva hasn't been as good.

Don't you think Silva gets on the ball more in congested areas and tries to make things happen? I think Ozil looks to exploit space more with and without the ball. In short, think Silva is a #10 for possession based teams whilst Ozil is the ideal #10 for counter attacking teams.

I think Silva tries to create more off the dribble while Özil primarily looks to exploit space, yes.

I think Silva finds plenty of space in the final 3rd too. When City are on form you often see them attack in numbers and Silva will make good runs and get on things. Ozil finds more space between the lines probably but I think Silva is very good at finding space in the box for a shot or a decisive pass.

People are saying Silva is more like Cazorla and really I only think thats true when it comes to nationality. Silva is far more like Ozil than Cazorla IMO.

The only difference between then in terms of style is that Silva plays at a slightly higher tempo, while Mesut is better able to adapt to his team mates.

Had high hopes for Henry as a pundit to be honest but he's seamlessly slotted in next to your Nevilles and Carraghers, probably even worse than them. Pretty disappointing.

He's definitely not worse than Carragher and Neville but he's pretty bad. I mean Carragher seems like a guy whos never even watched football nevermind spent over a decade as a PL player. Its weird because Henry seemed much more clued up about things when he first started getting the odd appearance on panels.

Think Carragher is the least shit out of them, at least a year or so ago when I watched MNF every now and then he made the occasional good point if you could endure the accent and voice.

Neville is a complete fraud, using a huge fucking iPad to recreate scenes the direction dictates you doesn't make you an analyst. You can tell immediately when he's a co-commentator, doesn't have a fucking clue and biased as hell.
