Lets see if he can be Arsenal POTS first.
😆
Ozil will never get enough goals to get those sort of recognition.
He should be, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone like Coquelin got more votes from the fans.
He should be..? Based on what?
Ozil's been good so far this season but Silva's been sensational in every game he's played. I think Ozil has another level to reach before he's player of the year material.
Having said that the two of them have been the best playmakers in the league in 2015.
I like Silva, but he has Aguero in front of him to be fair. I reckon I'd get a few assists playing behind him.
True, but last season Silva and Aguero pretty much carried Man City to second place. And Aguero was injured a fair bit.
Ozil needs to learn how to nutmeg the keeper on his finishes. That was the blindingly obvious option for his chance against Stoke and he missed it completely. He has to improve that element of his game if he wants to move onto th next level, it can't just be about playing best throughballs in the league.
Millionaire, world champion, La Liga champion - I'd say it has worked decently for him so far. 🙂

keeper read it tbf, the way he went down protected himself from the nutmeg
that wasn't on. the only type of finish that would have worked in that situation was a podolski type and ozil just doesn't have that in his arsenal.
Yeah, i was hoping to see him try to roof the ball in that situation. Was about the only way he was going to score from that angle.
He took too long, allowed Butland to get himself set for it.
Agreed, but even with that Butland was low. If he attempted to roof it and connected with it properly, he could have scored.. If there was one thing Poldi was good at, it was scoring from ridiculous angles like that

Yep. It's the sort of thing they should work at in training. If that had been a defence splitting pass it wouldn't have taken him more than a fraction of a second to play it with proper weight and all. They just need to wire into him to be more decisive and finish instead when he's through on goal. It's those extra .4 seconds that allow Butland to block the shot.

I'm not sure you can train that into him at this stage though, its an instinctual thing and if you don't have it at 26 its very hard to develop. Thats not to say he can't improve and in fairness I think thats just a case of going for goal more. TBH I was really happy just to see him take it on, he needs to do it 3 or 4 times a game rather than 1-2 though and from more positions. As I've said before he makes the space for himself around the box so often he can easily manage that.
Ozil's pivotal years developing his goalscoring were spent under Mourinho who probably isn't the best coach to develop a player creatively. Look at Cesc- He scored more than 40 in 3 seasons at Barcelona and now he's been asked to play a very specific role by Mourinho and only got 5 all season. Imagine if Cesc had his developing years of 20-24 under Mourinho. He'd never have added goalscoring to his game too.

There was a point we had it on the left and played it across the park, via Ozil in the middle to Ramsey wide right on the edge of the box. Ramsey skied a shot but you could see Ozil had made his way into a good position in the box and was clearly exasperated with the poor shot from Ramsey. There's promising signs from his game in the areas people wanted him to improve upon. Even watching him for Germany against Scotland last week, there were a few moments I was pleased to see which haven't been all that common in his time here.Â
He could have shot it straight away instead of taking a touch. The pass was perfect. Even then, there were plenty of space for him to finish on the far post but he didn't trust his right foot. That said, Walcott's wrong movement in the box didn't help at all.

His movement is first class, I can see exactly why Wenger wants him pushed right up. He finds space and then has the ability to control the ball and keep it as defenders close in. He doesn't need razor sharp instincts to score 10 league goals, if he had those instincts on top of the rest of his game he'd score 30.
He's definitely been taking more shots on. Hopefully once a few go in, he'll actually back himself.
