Mesut coming out of his shell?

Here we go again. We had one bad result (where he was even one of the best players on the pitch from us) and we're getting people asking why isnt he doing more or carrying the team. Then we go and win the 9 next matches where he quietly dictates the whole play, but then gets brushed aside and the glory goes to the goalscorers.

Personally thought he was as bad as Coquelin, Cazorla and Ramsey. That moment where Giroud crossed the ball from the left, and Adrian flapped at it and dropped the ball in the box and Ozil was dawdling around was when I gave up on him for the match.

He has no fitness, lack of preseason, or adaptation excuses this time around, so he should be evaluated more critically.

Oh and he doesn't have any credit taken away from him - Jan onwards, he was lauded with praise, at least on here, and rightly so.

We're not asking why he doesn't carry the team everyone agrees he's not that kind of player.

That's right, he's the guy who gets you 9 wins out of 10, Alexis or Rambo are the kind of guys who get you that 10th win when the going gets super tough. Unfortunately Rambo was off pace yesterday and Alexis shouldnt have even been on the pitch yet.

You can't blame ozil for the loss when you set up with one mobile player who's probably the least productive one we have too.

Someone said they were irritated with Giroud for too often being on the left wing. Well, that's what happens when you play someone at left wing who never, ever has any intention of either staying wide or look to getting the ball into space. Giroud went there because there was no one else there is the easy answer.

I agree with this, and it has been my view since the first couple of months after Özil got here when we saw that all the time.

With Cazorla 'on the flank' it looked like this to me yesterday when we were in possession.

Neither Monreal nor Debuchy get forward all that much, and to boot Monreal goes on the inside half the time when he gets forward. We had no width except for the few times Chambo went on tear down his flank, and there were NO. VERTICAL. RUNS. AT. ALL. You look at those players, and every single one of them prefer to get the ball to feet. Ramsey moves off the ball, but that invariably takes him waaaay out of position, Özil occasionally looks to exploit space, and Chambo occasionally looks to exploit space. Key word there is 'occasionally'.
We prefer to attack through the middle, but with that line-up we deliberately do our damned best to congest the middle to the maximum, thus making it easy for West Ham to defend very narrow and focus all their energy centrally.

People are annoyed nothing has changed and we're obviously not going to win the PL, and when people are angry they don't think logically so since blaming Wenger is out of the question and Flamini wasn't playing they insert their next disliked player, it's easy and comfortable.

I agree with Rex. We have Theo, but we need one, maybe two more forwards who can make penetrating runs into space. Remember when we had Thierry, Bobby, and Freddie all doing that?

Theo should definitely start every game for us, but fucking hell, his lack of technique and awareness makes you want to tear your hair out sometimes. He's a weapon under the right circumstances but half the time he's barely a footballer. Wenger has had years to improve on him and we've got nothing. It's very disappointing.
