Someone explain what the point of playing Ozil is when we line up the way we do.

Today we had Cazorla on the left, who doesn't get any further forward than Ozil. Oxlade-Chamberlain who hugs the touchline. And Giroud who is an immobile lump. Ozil's game is on feeding mobile forwards.

It's basic football that you need players who complement each other. Ozil is a top class player, but what's he supposed to do in this team? Honestly, what do people expect from him?

wenger is trying to satisfy too may overrated egos. if you genuinely feel that ozil is your number 10 and could win player of the year then cazorla can't be out wide and giroud can't be your center forward. if you don't rate ozil to carry your attack like that then don't play with a #10 and play him out wide. make a decision.

The only one who at least got the basics right, but that's to be expected as he's a world class player.

Must be awful to play with players who can't control a ball in tight spaces to save their lifes. Giroud, Coq, Ramsey, Debuchy, Ox, Alexis etc. it's like they're getting a ticking bomb at their feet.

If Ozil had got the basics right he would have had two good shots on target. Instead he had one blocked attempt. He's as shot phobic as Hleb was.

We need to ensure all 3 of our forwards can score goals, because Ozil won't get more than 5 for us.

It's criminal he doesn't get crucified for his shot shyness in front of goal. He is even worse than Hleb in some instances where it was obvious to shoot but he complicate things by passing.

I don't think he was the worst player on the field though. I thought he played okay but the whole team was shit.

wenger put him on notice on friday, something to the effect of you can't play behind the striker and score 5 goals.

I'm a massive Ozil fan, but so far I don't think he's been worth the outlay. The fault lies in two places: little bit Wenger for not building a team around him, and little bit Ozil for not showing enough initiative at times. Silva and Fabregas are more impactful and the inferior Coutinho pops up with amazing match-winners regularly in 2015.

I need to feel that Ozil is winning us games. For goals, he needs to shoot more and be more direct. For assists, Wenger needs to sell some scrubs and bring in some quality upfront. Our frontline is abysmal. That we are depending on Ox, Walcott and Giroud as key men is negligent.

That's Sanchez. Even Cazorla has more of a chance of doing that. It's not a criticism of Ozil, we just have to accept it.

He was worth the money in the sense that thats what top players cost, but he wasn't what team like ours needed most.
