Despite not coming top of anything, Ozil still have the 2nd best score which showed his all round contributions. Case closed. (For those who wants to argue about how its easier to play half a season like Ozil compared to a full season, it's more a moot point. We can compare him again next season when he plays full)

P.S Oscar, Mata and Coutinho's playmaking stats is fucking dire for 3 so highly rated players.

Its because they are not full time playmakers. Sterling, Hazard, Oxlade should go in the wingers category anyway and Barkley, Oscar, Coutinho, Mata are more attacking mids than playmakers.

But the point remains - Özil is elite.

They're 'lucky' City completely capitulated soon after the new year though, otherwise they'd have definitely felt the strain of Fabregas and Costa going off the boil. They certainly felt it in the Champions League.

Flobs, did you watch the last two games. Cesc was an absolute waste of space. It's crazy to see how rubbish he's been this year, but he's still averaging 0.58 assists a game. Shows how vicious his hot streak was

I thought about leaving out Sterling, Hazard, Di Maria and Chambo as they are wingers, but just putting them in for comparison sake. Didn't affect much though anyway. It was why I did not include Alexis and Walcott, more of wing/foward.

Attacking mids and playmaker differs very little. When you play in the hole, you are expected of certain standards.

No I didn't. I must admit I don't watch most non Arsenal games nowadays. Just don't have the time.

Cesc wasn't a waste of space against Man U at all. He closed off passing lanes effectively, and help keep Man U out of the area ahead of their CBs. He also played the pass to Oscar which led to the winning goal.

The game before that he scored the winner, if I remember correctly.

What you pay top dollar for in football in attacking players is the ability to produce a moment of magic. Despite Cesc not being nearly as dominant as the first half of the season he still has that, and it manifests itself from time to time. It is the same reason we paid £42m for an attacking player who hardly scores.

For what it's worth, I think Cesc is better than Cazorla in this deep role both are playing/ have played this season.

Anyways, I am just glad we have Ozil but if we have to play someone of Cazorla's ilk behind Ozil in midfield then Cesc would have been decent.

Fabregas is no doubt a better player in the position Cazorla is playing. Shouldn't be too much debate there really.

They are both class there, but both of them leave the need to compensate defensively. Fabregas is totally worth it IMO, whereas I don't think the same is true for Cazorla.

Ramsey is better than both in that deeper role. Especially if you have Ozil ahead.
