Was watching Man City - Leicester the other day, and then only do you realise how lucky we are. Even someone like Silva, widely considered as one of the best playmakers does not have the same efficiency of movement, where every touch and every run has a purpose, not to mention spotless decision-making and elegance at the same time. We are truly lucky.

I think the criticism of Henry as a pundit is harsh. Yes, when he first started out for Sky a year ago he was not great. But in my opinion he has improved a lot in recent months. For example, his last Monday Nite Football analysis was a breath of fresh air.

The claim that David Silva is better at "running games" is mystifying and risible but I'm not sure you can dispute that, up until this season, David Silva has been better in the Premier League. Last season, Ozil missed nearly half of our league games through injury whereas Silva ended up with 12 goals and 7 assists

Henry made a great point, (08:08 in that video), about Ozil staying away from the game waiting for the ball to come to him.
I thought it was similar to his point when discussing Guardiola's tactic of players staying in position.
Skip the nonsense spouted by carragher and start from about 06:30 in the clip below.

Quite a few people thought it was a bullshit point, earlier in this thread (or was it another thread?). That clip doesn't prove much, just that at that instance Ozil though it prudent to stay away for the ball and perhaps create space for others.

It does seem the wrong thing to do as most number 10s would go towards the ball but Henry was highlighting the tactical advantage of trusting your teammates to get you the ball. Ofcourse it wont always work and you cannot "run" the game without the ball but when it does, it is a great chance for a player with his passing ability.

Not sure about that Tone, if they said Ozil likes to find good positions and Silva prefers to go to the ball then then fair enough, but it wasn't. You have the bear in mind that this analysis was set up so Carragher could justify picking Silva over Ozil 'all day long'.

I thought that whole analysis was awful, felt like they were sitting there all day trying to identify the difference between the two and came up with something that was largely fabricated. Their evidence, I.e. the clips, didn't back up what they were saying at all, it's was just a few random clips that fitted their argument. It would be like me picking out a few Ronaldo misses and saying he's a shit goalscorer.

Exactly Oft. You could just as easily put together a few clips of Ozil dropping deep to start moves or of Silva popping up in space to make or score a goal.

This idea that Ozil is only a final 3rd player is way off. Especially this season. In the last month since Santi got injured he's been dropping in and start the majority of our moves.

Ozil has always dropped between the CMs on occasion to pick up the ball. It's part of the reason he's so hard to man mark. His movement is very vertical, like Ramsey, which is why they play so well together in the center. Our attack gets less compressed and remains structured in its fluidity.

Did not agree with annoying voice for a second!
His lame reasoning did not make me think i prefer Silva to Ozil.

My main takeaway was appreciating that particular (widening the pitch) tactical nous.

Anyone concerned that having Sanchez back may jeopardize Ozil's form?

I know its a weird question as I do think we're a better team with Sanchez in the squad. My concern is that Sanchez has routinely dropped too deep and in doing so clogged space that Ozil could move into. While Ozil will have another asset to feed to date Sanchez hasn't really prospered from Ozil with most of his assists coming from other players.

Thinking I would give Sanchez a run at RWF because it could help Bellerin (more than Theo) and too me it seems Ozil prefers shifting to the left. This way they would compete for a little less of the same space.
