Can't think of another player that rubs everyone the wrong way so badly. Compare Ozil to Berbatov, and its hilarious how one gets away with it, while the other doesn't.

For me there's basically no difference in their style and approach to the game. Both incredibly talented but so, so, Lackadaisical and moody when things don't go their way.

Definitely not the go to man when we're struggling as a team.

Özil was probably our best player tonight. Made errors but was at least productive on the ball at times.

I love Ozil, was my favourite non-Arsenal player before he joined, but you're gonna have games where your teammates aren't performing and you need to step outside your comfort zone and drag them through the mire. He is incapable of that.

What does "drag them through the mire" entail? Dribble the whole opposing team and score a goal?

He was the only player we had who could play a pass between the lines properly, and he created a couple good chances. People pay more attention to his body language than what he does with the ball. He wasn't perfect but if we had 11 performances like Mesut's we would have pissed that match.

He doesn't work well with Giroud.

His limb movements are slow which means he doesn't suit tiki taka like Cazorla or Wilshere. Cazorla and Wilshere in particular make a million touches every time they get the ball. If they fuck up it's, most of the time, okay cos they're legs are faster than anyone else's and they have a low center of gravity so they can not just recover but come out looking brilliant. Lots of touches, slow football.

Ozil isn't like that at all. He's all about getting things right the first time. And running. He loves running.

You might think he's flawed because it sounds like he needs space in order to look good but the thing is you can make your own space, you don't have to rely on the other team to give it to you. All you have to do is fill the team up with good footballers. See, Ozil never needed just runners. He needed good footballers to play with.

Our reliance on Giroud a big problem. He's a crutch when we should be looking to heal and walk properly because we can do that. Start with the engine room and work your way up to the striker. This summer, i mean. Let's not waste Ozil's talent any longer.

Ozil - Sanchez - Walcott should be our front 3. Then have 3 centre mids who can carry most (not all) of the defensive burden.

And another thing. You play Rosicky, for example, behind Giroud and you'll see him look for the 1-2 and look to run beyond the striker all the time. Ozil has been playing with Giroud for almost 2 years and he still doesn't do that. Just not his game. His game is about movement and role switching. He can switch from being the passer to being the runner anytime he wants. But it doesn't work as well if everyone else is one dimensional.

Spot on.

Ozil wasn't the worst out there yesterday but he lost his head when we went 2 goals down. All his first touch went awry and started sulking. He has never been a fighter in his life and has never performed well when the going gets tough. We need to absolve those tough fights in midfield for him and use him in our most effective way, not his most effective way.

He's the least of our problems. He's surrounded by average dross, I'd drop my head too having to play with the likes of Welbeck, Giroud, Gibbs, Merte, etc.

Giroud has got his limitations and issues. So has Ozil. Stop scapegoating Giroud for Ozil's shortcomings as a player.

You think it's normal to depend as much as we do on an intensely physical presence upfront? It's a clue that we are dysfunctional as a team and lack quality.

At the very least it means move about, offer yourself to teammates. There were times when we were counterattacking, and he was way behind play, with no desire to get involved whatsoever.

I'm not saying run around like a headless chicken, but if we're struggling to keep possession and move the ball forwards, how about move about and give another option.

At least Sanchez tried to make things happen, despite his end product being awful.

You need to assert yourself on the pitch, have some personality. People that don't understand this are people who haven't played the game and have only ever watched it from their armchairs.

All the great players will say how important your presence on the pitch is. How your teammates pick up on our vibe.

Go watch some videos of Dennis Bergkamp and you'll see what I mean.

I think the best example of Ozil daydreaming was a point where he passed it to Sanchez and sort of ambled about in the same position before he suddenly switched on and made a run that he should have made right away. It's a run he'd normally make right away, instinctively. For whatever reason there's certain games where he seems to get lost in his own head, I think he's a little fragile mentally. Bizarre considering he completely bossed the 2010 world cup at such a young age, and played in one of the most pressurised environments around in Madrid.
