Problem is that he does diddums defensively on the wing, and he sees more of the ball when playing in his natural position. It is also impossible to play him and Walcott on the flanks together against any sort of real opposition, because we can't carry two players who refuse to defend.
Personally, I think it takes quite a bit away from his game when he is on the flank, and I don't like seeing him there. I'd rather he was taught to defend properly from the center rather than shunting him wide to minimize the damage.
