If Liverpool lose sterling they'll have 3 of their 4 most important players in 2 years. Leaving them with only an injury ravaged Sturridge. I think they're back to square one in terms of rebuilding.

Liverpool really messed up last year when they did not manage to win the title last year. When you find yourself in that certain position you must close the deal. Kind of similar to what happened to us in 2008/2009 following losing the title the year before. But we managed to end that season better than Liverpool have ended the one just gone.

Origi named in 'worst' Ligue 1 XI

Liverpool forward Divock Origi has been named in Ligue 1's worst team of the season by French newspaper L’Equipe.

L’Equipe rated every player over the course of the season, and the Belgium international ended the campaign with an average rating of 4.46, putting him in the newspaper’s worst XI.

Liverpool signed the striker for £10m from Lille last summer but let him stay at the club to develop before moving to Anfield at the end of this campaign.

I just assumed he was going to be reasonably good given all the ridiculous praise Rodgers has given him throughout the season. He has talked about him almost as their saviour next season!

Just when you think Liverpool have had all the bad luck they can endure they get more.

Suarez leaves, Gerrard leaves, Sterling wants out, Sturridge a crock. The miss top 4 (when they were telling us all how they were going to win the league this year), Origi (the next BIG thing) is named in the worst Ligue 1 XI, Kolo wants a contract extension and now the news that the club are NOT looking at replacing Brendan Rodgers this summer.

When it rains it certainly pours.

Liverpool lucked out on Suarez. When you're not in the CL and don't have the funds United have then the best you can hope for is to sign a young player and hope he develops well. With Suarez he turned out to be one of the top 10 players in the world. I don't think they're likely to hit another jackpot like that.

Just one look at AC Milan’s team is enough to remind you just how difficult this game is going to be for the Reds.

They have Shevchenko starting up front alongside on-loan Chelsea man Hernan Crespo. A sparkling midfield diamond of Andrea Pirlo, Genaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf and Kaka just oozes class - and not much will get past that defence of Alessandro Nesta, Jaap Stam, Cafu and the club captain, Paolo Maldini.

It’s clear that if Liverpool want to win this game they are going to have to keep it tight.
