That logic saw us play A.Cole in the CL back in 2006 instead of Flamini. Which was a mistake.

What? We have finally got 4 CBs at the club and you want us to be down to 3 again?

Debuchy is useful enough to keep. Can cover at CB and is very dependable anyway. Will probably be like Arteta kind, solid squaddie.

7 players for 4 defensive spots is plenty. By comparison, Chelsea have 6 (Azpi, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Zouma and Luis) and Man City (the supposed paragon of teams with massive squads) have 7 (Sagna, Zaba, Kompany, Demichelis, Mangala, Clichy and Kolarov) and Sagna barely even plays.

A huge reason why everyone counted us as being so short in numbers in defense is that they didn't even count Bellerin as a player at all. So, since the beginning of the season, we already have two more defenders than people thought we did.

Excellent game from us and top entertainment to boot. Most pleasing for me today is actually Ospina's performance; he looked VERY assured on crosses and corners, and came out plenty on those balls to help his defenders. Also showed great reflexes in the first half when Villa could have equalized, and excellent shot stopping for the chance right at the end.

It seemed as if Ozil, Ramsey and Cazorla were really enjoying playing with each other.

I just loved how Ozil passed the ball from 18 yards into the corner of the net.

If he can be penetrative and add goals to his game then if won't matter what his starting position is. I also thought Ozil worked really hard today defensively.

Wenger is getting this formation to work and the team knows each other better now.

Had thought Gabriel may start in place of him over the coming weeks but I'm not so sure now

Coquelin was superb and Chuba Akpom looks special

@[deleted] - Love those types of goals. Don't see them as much any more for some reason. Wenger said he liked Ozil's and Bellerin's finishes because they were less about power and more about technique.

Remember Tactics made a good post recently in the Ozil thread saying it was less about playing Ozil left or central (or right...as usual the front line were shifting positions quite a lot), but more about whether you want him in and around goal or driving forward from just past the halfway line. A few more goals would be the quickest way to convince everyone that's a good position for him, but even without, a top first touch and right decisions would see us score a lot more.

I am definitely an Ozil fan. He makes football look so simple when in form. Every pass has absolutely the right weight. The way he rolled the ball to Ramsey in the first half to take a shot from the edge of the box was beautiful. His flick was another level - the vision and the execution.

He isn't totally there yet but it is no coincidence that both Ozil and Mertesacker started the season like they did. It is all on Wenger, they shouldn't have had to come in and straight away play this season.

I am now liking this 3 man central midfield. I have no problem with Ozil in the forward line as long as he works as hard as he did today.

Akpom is an interesting talent and it is impossible Wenger doesn't acknowledge this. It's quite irresponsible that we haven't tied him down.
