🙂 Indeed. Anyway, my point was that the fact you need tactics and luck to win the CL doesn't mean you don't need good form and confidence.

We haven't had a lot of reasons to get excited about our team this season, but now our players are returning and we're starting to play well, I'm all for living in the moment. Call it blind faith, but I'd fancy us against any team in England right now. And a lot of Europe.

Doubt we'll win this one. We'd get killed by both Barca and Bayern, though I think we'd do well against Real Madrid and Chelsea.

It'd depend on how we handle the first game against either Bayern or Barca, and we'd certainly need to score at least 2 away goals.

It's all about the draw. We have to avoid Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Chelsea, at least until the final.

Ideally, 2 of them will get paired in the next round. Maybe PSG will even do us a favour against Chelsea. The other 3 will definitely all qualify though.

If we can get Basle/Porto in the next round, then we're favourites to qualify for the Semi. Even a draw against Juve/Dortmund or Leverkusen/Atletico could be navigated.

Look at Porto's run in 2004. They played man United, Lyon, Deportivo, and Monaco.

They let Deportivo take out Milan, and Monaco take out Real Madrid, two of the favourites that year, and beat those two themselves.

We need similar luck and efficiency to go far.

Getting one of those in the semis wouldn't be the end of the world. I think we'd be favorites against anyone else (standard caveat with regards to injuries, of course). Our team is miles better than the Porto, Liverpool and Chelsea teams that have all won the competition in the last decade or so.

Until Wenger can lead a team to victory over a Mourinho team, I will believe no such thing.

Having said that, victory in the Champions League final would be worth every drop of agony we've suffered in their previous meetings.

I can't see any reason why we should be winning the CL this season.

I'm deadsure we'll struggle to break down Monaco at home, and it could be a nervy return leg as well. Similar to the 2008/09 last 16 ties against Roma, if I'm being honest.

Even if we reach the last eight, it would take a miracle not to be drawn against any of Barca, Real, Bayern and Chelsea - I'm sure each of them will reach the next stage. That leaves just a possible three teams we could be facing instead - Juventus and Porto could be overcome, but with Atletico, I don't know.

Either way, I just can't see it this season.
We're not there yet, we're just about reaching a decent level, while most of the top teams have already a settled team and system.

42,86% chance of not facing any of them. Those odds pass as miracles these days?

That's assuming no upsets as well. In reality, it's probably somewhere in the 55-60% range if I had to guess off the top of my head.
