Daz Started listening to the podcast (Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett) on the train to work this morning. Only about 30 minutes in so far but it's very good and worthwhile getting. Still at the early stages of his life and early impact of his father and childhood on him as a person, so haven't read that whole article as I'd like to hear it from Henry himself.
The interesting thing for me so far is about his feelings and development as a child have shaped him growing up, and how that might impact his coaching career. I've seen it said before about players at the top end of the game struggling to become successful managers, and I thought part of that was an inability to understand and work with the limitations of inferior players; an inability to manage aspects they did not recognise or had no experience of. I think back to Reyes in particular and it felt like Henry had little patience at the time with him in particular. I may be getting ahead of myself here as I've more to listen to, but it's sounding like Henry's upbringing has left him with some deep-seated issues with regards to emotional understanding and expression that would likely play a far bigger role than tactical/technical outlook in how an individual might manage and engage a squad. Looking forward to seeing if he touches on anything like that.
