One of 3 AFC players to have had their career derailed as a result of serious injury inflicted by an opposition player (Diaby, Ramsey, Wilshere). To the point that Diaby almost became a parody of his former self such was the impact and his want/need to avoid further injury. He would become easy to channel away from goal and r\making runs into dead ends, and it also hampered his ability to see the game as he'd square up to receive the ball and have no idea of anything happening behind him and would simlpy play the way he faced. Likewise his defensivve contributions would decrease to avoid physical conflict, and his tackling style became more reckless.
That said in many ways he is possibly one of the better talents of his generation and the game is poorer for his lost potential.
