Don Pacifico He had an absolute unreal spell around then, wasn't it Euro 2008 where he was just sensational and continued like that for us. Genuinely looked like a player who could single handily take on any team. Dunno what happened but fell off pretty hard!

He just had a style of play that was unsustainable when the physical drop-off occurs for players in their 30s. Not to mention a physique prone to that stage of a footballer's career hitting harder.

One hell of a player at his best though. Definition of a moments and match winning footballer. Incredible finisher too, one of the best we've had. If he got the ball anywhere around or in the 18 yar box with abit of space (or sometimes without any at all) it was game over. Loved him.

Some of those explosive zero backlift strikes defied physics. It's a shame we wasted his English career for the most part

CPM he could move when he wanted to (think Liverpool 4th goal) but chose to do so sparingly.

Those first few months of Arshavin were heaven. It was like watching a rock star join your barbershop quartet.

He'll never be considered close to a flop to me. Cost 15m and paid that back in his first few months. I'm convinced we wouldn't have made CL that season without him, we looked terrible until that signing.

QuincyAbeyie Definitely not. Signing him was the last throw of the dice and we needed him to hit the ground running and boy did he do that.

Absolute blast of a player who burned out rather than fading away, but the burn was so short. I reckon we got Arshavin three years too late. Sign him at 22-23 and you have a chance to define his attitude and professionalism. At 27 he was already a bona fide superstar and wasn't going to change his ways. I don't think I've ever seen a footballer with a less athletic body haha.

His first goal against Blackburn shocked me. I couldn't comprehend of scoring from that angle after years of intricate play.

It's sad he didn't get picked up by any of the clubs in the top European leagues earlier. I remember seeing a video of all his goals and assists at Zenit and he was doing some ridiculous things.

Possibly the most incredible half-season impact I've seen.

But even in that 6-1 pummelling of Everton on the opening day of the following season he already looked worse and less impactful. Really sudden drop-off.
