Still pretty unreal we bought him from League 1 and he played so many matches for us.

Only 32 now but he is already a free agent without clubs. Many players from that Wenger era ends up without a club past 30.

Claudius He definitely has not played much, thats for sure. i liked him, but he was definitely not good enough. Just look at our title charge collapse 2 seasons ago.. That was down to Saliba's injury and Holding playing the rest of the season. Our defense was a shambles with him in it.

I watched Fabregas's interview on This is Football and he mentioned that he had offers from Chelsea, City and Man Utd in his final season at Barcelona. Annoyingly, Gary Lineker never asked him about Arsenal, but clearly there was no offer on the table from us. Hard to really dislike him after that if we didn't even want to re-sign him.

I didn't begrudge him for leaving, and it was the Barcelona players who were way more egregious than anything Cesc did in particular.

I also didn't blame Wenger, if he had indeed chose not to re-sign him, as we had just signed Ozil and Ramsey had a breakout season.

It does change things for me, though, as I was under the impression he refused to re-join.
