Far too young. Very sad.
Former Arsenal Players Thread
- Edited
Honestly, this is very upsetting. I'm old enough, as a few others here are - I'm sure, to remember Super Kev breaking through into the first team and having quite an impact towards the end end of the almost Invincible season. It never quite happened for him thereafter because of his great mate Ian Wright Wright Wright, but he still scored one of the biggest goals any Arsenal player has ever scored in the Cup Winners Cup semi thirty years ago.
He seemed a lovely fella and that he has been taken from us at a relatively young age feels like a sick joke.
Ah geez, RIP Super Kev. Ridiculously young, not OK!
Rest in peace. That Cup-Winner's Cup run and win is probably my fondest memory as a young fan. Campbell didn't make the hugest impact on me I'll admit, but that achievement really cemented my loyalty as a teen.
Very sad. You can see Wrighty is cut up trying to go through the motions on ITV today. Way too young.
Incredibly sad news. Way too young. RIP.
Ozil getting ready to come after those who called him weak!
He's an interesting character.
Would make it less likely you say it to his face though...

he left-footed winger said: “People say that he identified me as a player that wasn’t up to the level in his team, in his philosophy. It’s completely false. When he arrived, he had [Manchester] City’s philosophy. He had a squad that was filled with quality and back-ups in every position. When he spoke to me, he said he counted on me, he wanted me to do this or that, and you have to focus on that. He improved me in every way. He spoke to me the whole time, I watched videos with his assistants all the time. He really believed in me. He said I had incredible potential, so we need to extract that potential. At the end of the first season, he spoke with me and told me to do this or that. The second season comes along, I was a substitute. I was going mad. How could I be a substitute when he said he counted on me? Everything is spinning in your head. I was a substitute. It was at the time when they signed Willian. He is a number 10 or a winger. But he plays on the wing for like 11 or 12 matches in a row.”
Meh, he was just not good enough

The whole situation was a mess. He did alright but he never got any momentum going for a number of reasons. I think he's right to feel a bit hard done by. He wasn't responsible for his price tag and it wasn't his fault Raul forced him on Unai who didn't want him. He did well enough in terms of end product too but when he'd have a bit of form he'd be dropped and never had the chance to put some form together. And signing Willian to play ahead of him was an absolute joke.
pepe out here gooning. no wonder he didn't make it here. did they do any research, he didn't turn into a freak when he joined arsenal. if they did a deep dive on his socials and had a p.i. follow him they would have figured out he was a freak. someone who puts a porn star (no matter if she can suck the soul outta you) front row at his presser isn't a serious person.
Can't wait to find/see some other angles....lordy!
David Luiz, underrated during his time here:

David Luiz was a problem. A shit player and a poisonous presence. We improved significantly the day he left.
Qwiss 100%. The biggest help was showing younger players what not to do.
my lasting memory of him is the germany game where brazil got their shit pushed in at home and he was doing his fake crying bullshit like "please don't tear into me, it's not me i have passion and i love my country, it's these other fuckers."
This cheered me right up: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cy78868rnxxo
Coombs this is unfathomably heart warming stuff. Cheers!
He managed to still make a dig at us
I laughed so hard when I saw that result yesterday. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy
https://dubz.co/c/a56cb0 Nelson goal. Still an Arsenal player, I know.
Eddie goal
HomeSteak good to see Nelson scoring. Helps a potential sale.
Wish Eddie had scored a couple of instinctive goals like that for us. Maybe it's the confidence of a player who knows his team rely on him more than we did.
Eddie, Nelson and ESR all doing well is a good story for our academy. Creates a fantastic halo for upcoming players. It’s incredibly satisfying to see them all doing well.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas arrested for organising £600,000 cannabis importation. Not the usual type of former player story! I knew he had been in Scotland but not that he was still floating about the lower leagues.
I heard he was JETting it in.
Geddit? I said I heard he was... Oh, never mind.
Wow, that's sad. What an idiot.
Wow
