Ref getting booed.....
Asian Cup 2015
Terrific win. Very surprised we came back after they equalised, we looked spent. Quality subs from Postecoglou.

And got booked for it.
Will there be big celebrations in Oz now?
Blatter getting booed!!

Meh, not really.
In Sydney there will be a lot of drunks. Round the country it'll be limited to a handful of pubs in each major city I'd say.
Brilliant win for Australia. Probably just about deserved on the balance of play. More possession and generally more control of the game, even though Korea had all the dangerous chances.
The ref is so bad. For e.g. in the 2nd half every little nudge he blew for a foul. Spoiled the entire spectacle and flow of the final.
Omar Abdulrahman not winning the MVP is a farce. Thoroughly enjoyed this edition of Asian Cup though. Australia is a fantastic host. Honestly they add quite a bit to Asian Football, not sure why people want to boot them out. Even though they now hold the record of all 3 Asian Titles in a year, it's not as if they dominate totally and the others have no chance. Luck played a huge part mostly.

Certainly, Korea and some of the Arab countries were very good.
It's probably got a racist/political element to it, but Israel play in UEFA for political reasons (understandably) and the Stans also (less so)
Asian teams need Australia as much as Australia needs them, we do play a different style more physical/European East Asian teams need to learn to contend with that as they do tend to get rolled over easily in the world cup.
There's no way Australia should leave the AFC, I really hope it doesn't happen. Any present ascendancy is going to end soon enough. We know how to put on a tournament and being part of Asia is infinitely better than beating the Solomons 25-0. I'll be gutted if it happens.
Nice one of Mass Luongo taking a picture with fans in Pitt St Mall.
I went to the Final with my Dad and my 14 year old son. What a night. Right up there with the Uruguay World Cup qualifier, which I also attended. The crowd was immense - haven't heard an Aussie crowd like that since Uruguay either.
I thought we'd blown it when Son scored right at the end, but the Koreans tired more than us, got cramp etc. Still, they were making some more chances. Cha-Du-Ri was exceptional - he was close to man of the match I thought. But two moments of quality won it - Luongo's turn and rocket, and Tomi's obdurate persistance and delicate drag back. We went absolutely beserk when Troisi hammered it in. Korea looked like they might steal another equaliser right at the death but the striker was offside.
Bloody brilliant. And we got to boo Blatter. He looked a bit bemused but took it stoically. Not sure if the Qatari Sheikh appreciated getting booed though, but they did buy the World Cup.
Fantastic tournament all up - I'm so glad I went to a couple of games. Apparently we are bidding for the U18 World Cup, or maybe U21. Not sure. I went to the U23 World Cup in about 1993 - that was a brilliant tournament too - saw Ghanaplay Brazil in the final I think, after the Aussies made it to the semi finals. We saw players like Kevin Muscat, Paul Agostino, Nick Barmby, Stuart Pearce, Julian Joachim, Sami Kuffour, Carsten jancker, Adriano. Brilliant stuff.
I remember that tourney Asterix.
At the Turkey/Sth Korea game at the old Olympic park, the stands were shaking to 10,000 turks chanting and stomping POOF-TA REFEREE POOF-TA REFEREE!
Also the sight of a woman in full hijab with a Liverpool shirt on was pretty funny.
Good times.
Good on you Asterix, that would have been an awesome atmosphere. And well done for booing Blatter...i cracked up when i saw that on the tv!
Very optimistic that this win will provide a massive boost to the game here. Hosting a junior world cup would be a prettu awesome next step.
Yep, one thing Aussies love are winners.

He was my MOTM. Heroic performance, was almost hoping that Korea win it to give him a fitting send off. He was rampaging down the right even in the final minutes of extra time. Could have had 3 assists if Son put away easy chances.
He really was fantastic wasn't he. It was a pleasure to watch him. Also great to see what all the fuss was about Omar Abdulrahman this tournament. He's a very talented fellow
