People just prefer a certain style (or mold of player), and want to see it implemented without giving much consideration to how it might adversely affect the team.
I think you will find that I have not in at least two months said anything other than Welbeck being a backup to Giroud. I have high hopes for Welbeck, but at this point in time Giroud is easily the more effective of the two. I have, however, said that I think it is stupid to play them both, and I'd much rather see Welbeck on the bench. Have him play every third or fourth game, but as a striker. I think he is a useful player on the flank, but I also think that if he is to be of real use to us, then it is going to be as a striker.
