Why else would they sell him now if they didn't feel they were stacked in that position. There 6th in the table and won there last 5 games. Only a team with adequate cover would sell him. We must have seen potential in him. Wengers done well with defenders recently. I think verm, mert, kos and chambers were all solid signings. (Verms inability to recover form minor injuries was unforeseeable). And that's not even considering signing monreal, bellerin or debuchy.
